Dismissal of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh from the position of Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee

On the morning of March 4, the People's Council of An Giang province, term X, 2021-2026, held the 18th session (Special session) to consider and decide to dismiss the positions of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for the term 2021-2026; dismiss delegates of the People's Council of An Giang province, term X, 2021-2026, dismiss and elect additional positions of members of the Provincial People's Committee for the term 2021-2026.

At the meeting, the delegates of the An Giang Provincial People's Council considered and voted unanimously to dismiss Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh from the position of Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee (term 2021-2026), dismiss the delegate of the 10th An Giang Provincial People's Council (term 2021-2026); and dismiss Mr. Tran Anh Thu from the position of Vice Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee.

Previously, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province, was prosecuted and temporarily detained by the Investigation Police Agency of the Ministry of Public Security for the crime of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties"; Mr. Tran Anh Thu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province, was prosecuted and temporarily detained for the crime of "Accepting bribes".

The Central Party Secretariat has decided to discipline Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province and Mr. Tran Anh Thu, Member of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province by "Expelling from the Party".

Also at this session, the delegates of the People's Council of An Giang province considered and voted unanimously to dismiss Mr. Nguyen Bao Trung (former Chief of Office of the Provincial People's Committee) from the position of Member of the People's Committee of An Giang province due to accepting a new assignment.

At the same time, elect additional positions of members of the People's Committee of An Giang province for the 2021-2026 term for Mr. Tran Hoa Hop, Chief of Office of the People's Committee of An Giang province and Mr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong, Director of the Department of Construction of An Giang province.
