Apple to commercialize self-developed batteries by 2025

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên07/11/2023

According to ETNews , Apple is looking for a new component that is different from what major battery suppliers are using. The company's goal is to create its own battery with superior performance in a size that does not affect the internal structure of the device.

Apple's own battery technology will be applied for the first time on iPhone 17?

The source points out that the experiments are being conducted with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) – a conductive material that can improve battery performance and is already being used in devices like headphones. They have also been used to make flexible displays and are even being studied to create artificial muscles. The main characteristic of carbon nanotubes is their elasticity, in addition to some interesting conductive properties.

In addition to research into CNTs, sources say Apple may opt to use silicon instead of graphite to achieve greater energy capacity in the same space.

Leaks suggest that Apple is looking to take the next steps in mixed reality and virtual reality, which require high-performance batteries. Apple has reportedly been developing its own batteries since 2018, and 2025 is the year we first see them on the market.

As for the new battery rollout plan, the iPhone will be the first device to adopt this technology. If the usual schedule is followed, the iPhone 17 will be the product that gets the advantage in terms of battery life.
