DNVN - Amazon Web Services (AWS) has just officially launched AWS Region Asia - Pacific in Malaysia, helping developers, startups, entrepreneurs, government organizations... have more options to run applications and serve end users.
As part of its long-term commitment, AWS plans to invest approximately US$6.2 billion (MYR29.2 billion) in Malaysia by 2038.
The construction and operation of the new AWS Region is estimated to contribute approximately US$12.1 billion (MYR57.3 billion) to Malaysia’s gross domestic product (GDP) and will support an average of more than 3,500 full-time jobs in other businesses annually between now and 2038. These jobs, which include construction, facilities maintenance, engineering, telecommunications, and others across the country’s broader economy, will be part of the AWS supply chain in Malaysia.
AWS continues to increase investment in Malaysia.
“The launch of the AWS Region in Malaysia provides Malaysian organizations and businesses of all sizes with access to new and emerging technologies, accelerating our country’s digital innovation capabilities. This is a significant step towards realizing the vision of Malaysia’s new industrial masterplan 2030 to build a highly-skilled, innovative, prosperous, inclusive and sustainable economy,” said Tengku Zafrul, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI).
“The new AWS Region in Malaysia enables organizations in the Asia Pacific region to fully tap into the world’s largest and most trusted cloud platform, enabling customers to deploy advanced applications with a range of AWS technologies such as AI and ML,” said Prasad Kalyanaraman, Vice President, Infrastructure Services at AWS. “Malaysia’s rapidly growing digital economy requires access to secure, resilient, and sustainable cloud infrastructure.”
