Warm "Compassionate Community"

Selected as a pilot since 2023, after just over a year of implementation, Cao Xa commune, Lam Thao district has become the first Compassionate Community in the province. With enthusiasm and a sense of responsibility, the Commune Red Cross Society has coordinated with organizations and forces to mobilize the strength of solidarity, mutual love, join hands to help, share love, and warm the difficult lives in the area.

The small house of Mrs. Quach Thi Nghia and her nephew Cao Phan Cong in Zone 12 is one of the familiar charitable addresses of the members of the Red Cross Society of Cao Xa commune. Cong, born in 2020, has an extremely difficult situation, born into a near-poor family, the day he cried out at birth was also the day his mother passed away forever.

I thought that the protection and care of my father and grandmother would fill the void of my mother's love, but the storm began to hit me when last June, my father suddenly passed away due to a work accident. The boy was only four years old, his eyes were clear and did not understand the eternal separation, now he only had his grandmother to rely on. Since the day her son passed away, Mrs. Nghia had to be both a grandmother and a mother, a father, the burden fell on the shoulders of the frail old woman.

In order to share Cong's situation and hope that he will receive more love and support from the community, the Commune Red Cross Association has coordinated with the Commune Women's Union to adopt him under the Godmother Program. At the same time, it has mobilized departments, branches, organizations, units, businesses, philanthropists and people in the commune to join hands to support and give his family more than 24 million VND.

Mrs. Quach Thi Nghia emotionally expressed: "Thanks to the care and help of departments, branches, organizations, local leaders, the Red Cross, philanthropists, neighbors, my grandmother and I have had less difficulty and more confidence to continue to stabilize our lives...".

Understanding and sympathizing with the difficult circumstances in the area, recently, the Commune Red Cross Society has called for and mobilized support from benefactors to promote the spirit of solidarity, mutual love, and help the less fortunate to ease their hardships and rise up in life.

In the first 6 months of the year, the Association coordinated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels and organizations to organize and present 524 gifts worth over 307 million VND; supported 12 million VND to build houses for near-poor households; coordinated with the District Red Cross Society, District Youth Union and units, businesses, and philanthropists to provide funding to support 14 humanitarian addresses with a total value of over 103 million VND; mobilized people to donate over 31 million VND to support families in sudden difficult circumstances...

Along with that, the Association regularly visits and encourages families and members in difficult circumstances, coordinates with all levels and sectors to organize medical examinations and provide free medicine to people in the commune...

Comrade Cao Thi Xuan Hoa - Chairman of the Red Cross Society of Cao Xa commune said: The Red Cross Society of the commune currently has 19 branches with a total of over 1,600 members participating in activities. Since 2023, Cao Xa commune has been chosen as a model of the province to implement the construction of a compassionate community. Thanks to that, humanitarian and charitable activities in the commune have made great strides, becoming more substantial, systematic, methodical and spreading more widely, becoming a good tradition in the life of the community, deeply ingrained in the thinking and actions of the people in the commune.

The Association has actively innovated its activities, through many forms of fundraising, support and sponsorship for local people, together with the cooperation of authorities at all levels, the Fatherland Front, mass organizations and charitable units to provide maximum assistance, share difficulties, and add motivation and confidence for families and individuals to overcome adversity and strive to improve their lives.

Comrade Ta Tien Dung - Vice Chairman of Cao Xa Commune People's Committee said: The title of Benevolent Community is the result of the efforts of the entire political system and the majority of the people, and is also a great honor for the commune. Promoting the achieved results, in the coming time, Cao Xa commune will continue to effectively implement humanitarian and charitable work, actively promote the movement "Good people - good deeds, joining hands to build a benevolent community", maintain the title of Benevolent Community, spread good deeds in the community, contribute to building a rich and happy homeland, leaving no one behind...
