7 export items to reach billion USD in the first half of 2023

7 products and product groups with export value reaching over 1 billion USD include: coffee, rubber, rice, vegetables, cashew nuts, shrimp and wood products.

Rice exports increased impressively in June, bringing in 300 million USD. In the first 6 months, rice exports reached 4.2 million tons, with a turnover of 2.32 billion USD. The average export price of rice in the first 5 months of 2023 is estimated at 517 USD/ton, up 5.8% over the same period in 2022 (489 USD/ton). This is also one of the items with the highest export speed in the context of economic difficulties.

Cashew nuts in the first half of 2023 also grew impressively, reaching 1.6 billion USD, up 7.7% in value compared to the first 6 months of 2022. The average export price of cashew nuts from Vietnam in the second quarter of 2023 is estimated at 5,805 USD/ton.

In the first 6 months, although coffee volume decreased (reaching 1.02 million tons, down 2.2%), thanks to the average export price increasing by 5.2%, the export value reached 2.4 billion USD, up 3% compared to the first half of 2022.

In the first 6 months of 2023, shrimp exports brought in revenue of 1.2 billion USD. However, it still decreased by 34% compared to the same period in 2022. It is forecasted that by the end of 2023, shrimp exports will stop at 3 billion USD.

In the first half of 2023, rubber exports reached about 580,000 tons, worth 803 million USD, down 3.3% in volume and 23.7% in value compared to the same period in 2022.

In the first half of 2023, wood exports reached 4.7 billion USD, a sharp decrease compared to 2022.

For the first time, fruit and vegetable exports reached a record turnover of more than 1 billion USD in June, up 2.7 times over the same period last year. Notably, in the first 6 months of the year, durian exports increased 18 times over the same period in 2022. Other items such as dragon fruit and bananas also grew well, expected to reach a turnover of billions of USD this year.
