According to the Cambodian National Organizing Committee for the 32nd SEA Games-12th ASEAN Para Games (CAMSOC-CAMAPGOC), a total of 1,453 athletes from 11 countries will compete at the 12th Southeast Asian Para Games, held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from June 3-9.
The Thai sports delegation had the largest number of athletes participating with 304 people, followed by the Indonesian delegation with 275 people; the host country Cambodia with 252 people, the Philippines with 176 people, Malaysia with 133 people, Vietnam with 128 people, Myanmar with 83 people, Laos with 43 people, Singapore with 26 people, Brunei with 20 people and 13 athletes from Timor Leste.
In addition, Cambodia will also welcome a total of 1,239 coaches and technical staff who are members of the above sports delegations.
Secretary General of the Cambodian National Paralympic Committee Yi Veasna said that athletes will compete in 14 sports within the framework of the 12th ASEAN Para Games.
The above sports include: Athletics, badminton, boccia, chess, 5-a-side football, 7-a-side football, judo, weightlifting, swimming, men's and women's table tennis, men's and women's sitting volleyball, men's and women's wheelchair basketball, and e-sports (performance sport).
“We expect Cambodia to win 56 medals in the next games, up from 28 medals at the 11th ASEAN Para Games in Indonesia in 2022,” Mr. Veasna said.
Cambodia aims to rank 6th in the medal tally of the 11 countries participating in this year's games.
