
According to a VNA correspondent in Africa, at the Zimbabwe Presidential Palace, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Republic of South Africa and concurrently to the Republic of Zimbabwe Hoang Sy Cuong on March 13 presented the letter of credentials of President Vo Van Thuong to Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Also attending the ceremony on the South African side was Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Amon Murwira.
At the diplomatic reception after the presentation of credentials, President Emmerson Mnangagwa congratulated Vietnam on its impressive achievements in socio-economic development and enhancing its international role and position.
Mr. Emmerson Mnangagwa also reiterated his admiration and respect for the history of the Vietnamese people's struggle for national liberation and unification in the past.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa asked the Ambassador to continue his efforts to foster good political relations between the two countries and the two ruling parties, and to promote economic and investment cooperation activities.
The President of Zimbabwe also introduced the southern African country's strong sectors and products such as mining, cotton, tobacco, etc., and hoped to attract Vietnamese partners interested in investing and doing business here.
Ambassador Hoang Sy Cuong respectfully conveyed greetings and warm regards from General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Vo Van Thuong to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The Ambassador proposed that the two countries should increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations, through party and state channels, as well as promote people-to-people exchanges to expand bilateral understanding and create a premise for cooperation in all aspects.
With the foundation of friendly and trustworthy political relations between the two countries, the two sides need to continue to coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, first of all at the United Nations.
The Zimbabwean President agreed that the two countries need to further strengthen cooperation at multilateral forums.

On this occasion, on March 13-14, Ambassador Hoang Sy Cuong had working sessions and paid a courtesy call to Mr. Simbarashe Mumbengegwi - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee in charge of Foreign Affairs of the ruling Zimbabwe African National Union - Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF); Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Zimbabwe Amon Murwira.
Ambassador Hoang Sy Cuong also had friendly meetings with some members of the Vietnamese community in Zimbabwe, Ambassadors and Charge d'Affaires of ASEAN countries in Zimbabwe (Indonesia and Malaysia) to learn and exchange information about the local situation./.
