After the process of checking and verifying the case of an officer of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center being accused of plagiarizing his doctoral thesis, on the afternoon of November 22, Hue University issued a conclusion on the case.
According to the conclusion, Hue University determined that the author of the doctoral thesis "History of Vietnam: The process of formation, development and transformation of royal festivals in Hue from 1802 to 1945" is Ms. LTAH, Head of Scientific Research Department of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, with plagiarism.
Hue University determined that Ms. LTAH's doctoral thesis was plagiarized.
Specifically, plagiarism was discovered in 12 pages of Ms. H's doctoral thesis with many paragraphs and ideas using similar ideas and paragraphs from other authors' published works without the author citing the source. Hue University also pointed out a number of errors in the misuse of historical data in this doctoral thesis.
With the above violations, Hue University will recommend that the thesis author edit the contents pointed out in the conclusion of the denunciation and submit it for deposit according to current regulations.
In particular, the University of Science, Hue University is the unit that directly coordinates with the Training and Student Affairs Department of Hue University to monitor and confirm the editing of Ms. H's thesis according to the inspection conclusion.
Regarding the resolution of Ms. H.'s doctoral thesis, Hue University leaders said they would propose that the Ministry of Education and Training establish an Appraisal Council to resolve the issue according to its authority.
As Thanh Nien reported, in July 2024, Ms. LTAH's doctoral thesis "History of Vietnam: The process of formation, development and transformation of royal festivals in Hue from 1802 to 1945" (defended at the Hue University's Doctoral Thesis Defense Council on March 23, 2018) was accused of plagiarism.
Accordingly, some contents of the thesis coincide with the content of a specialized newspaper of Science and Technology of Son La , written about the current status of festival activities in our country, published on March 26, 2018 and the research topic "Hue Royal Festival and the issue of preserving and promoting values to serve the people and develop Hue tourism" by a doctor published in 2011. In addition, the doctoral thesis was also accused of having more than 20 errors in criticizing historical information.
After receiving the information, Hue University began to investigate and verify. The Director of Hue University directed the establishment of a team to verify the content related to two issues: plagiarism and misuse of historical data in the doctoral thesis.
