Touching stories about teacher Vo Tong Xuan at the old school

Allow me to affectionately call the great scientist of the country by the name of Teacher Xuan. Teacher Xuan was a former student of Cao Thang Technical College (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), school year 1957-1960. He breathed his last at the age of 84, to the regret of many people.

Mirror of overcoming adversity

For generations of teachers and students of Cao Thang Technical College, his life is a shining example, a story of optimism, perseverance, and hard work overcoming difficulties and adversities in life to achieve success in life, especially in scientific research. In addition, he also has a compassionate heart, always thinking of the community, of the farmers with muddy hands and feet. But from now on, that heart has stopped beating forever.

In April 2024, despite his declining health, Mr. Xuan still took the time to visit the school on the occasion of the Traditional Day. I clearly remember that Mr. Xuan was one of the first people to return to school.

When the students invited him into the hall, he quickly refused because he wanted to go sightseeing. He slowly went to each workshop, looked at a series of equipment from new to old machines and started testing them, as if he had returned to his time as a student.

Ms. Loan - Mr. Xuan's wife - told me that he was very excited and wanted to visit the school to meet everyone.

In a calm voice, he reminded the lecturers that they must constantly update and learn new knowledge, especially in the field of scientific research.

After the tour, the teacher went into the hall to share with the students. He inspired them with stories of overcoming difficulties in his life, encouraging students with difficult circumstances to never give up their studies but to pursue them to the end. Despite his old age and poor health, the teacher still passionately shared for hours without getting tired.

The "5M squared" formula creates the mark of Vo Tong Xuan

Previously, around 2022, Mr. Xuan talked about the "5M squared" formula that created the mark and success named Vo Tong Xuan.

Mr. Xuan shared that the first M in his life is "grave". At first, I was a bit surprised, but when I thought about it again, those were very convincing things that I appreciated and remembered forever.

Teacher Xuan explained: "Everyone has their roots. We don't know whether we will be successful in the future, but we must be filial to our parents and grateful for the teachings of our teachers. Our hometown and school are two places we definitely cannot forget."

The remaining four M's of Mr. Xuan are: Strong, lucky, clear-headed and diligent.

Mr. Xuan once told me that Cao Thang school is a good memory of his life, a place to practice thoughtfulness and scientific working methods. This made the school's faculty and students very touched and proud.
