Exporting through e-commerce channels brings significant efficiency |
This morning (October 19), Industry and Trade Magazine organized a seminar on "Promoting exports through e-commerce platforms".
As an e-commerce platform that works closely with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to support Vietnamese businesses in exporting, Alibaba.com has supported many Vietnamese businesses in exporting goods. E-commerce is an effective export channel for businesses.
Assessing the export advantages of Vietnamese products, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Uyen said that the advantages of Vietnamese export products are competitive prices; diverse products and designs; and guaranteed quality. In addition, the advantages from Free Trade Agreements will help Vietnamese enterprises confidently boost exports through e-commerce.
However, according to Alibaba.com representative, Vietnamese export enterprises often face difficulties with language; lack of marketing skills and use of support tools; logistics... in the international market.
Deciding to do business on Alibaba.com since September 2015, Ms. Hoang Thi Thanh Tam - Director of Indochina Investment and Creative Development Joint Stock Company (Indochina) said that doing business on e-commerce platforms has been an effective method in recent years. The e-commerce market in Vietnam is in the "top 3" in Southeast Asia and when the company's products are developed on the e-commerce platform, the company can reach customers worldwide.
“Previously, we often went to support events and exhibitions abroad, which took a lot of time and cost a lot of money. Now, through e-commerce, our businesses and products can reach customers faster and customers can buy our products from all countries in the world,” said Ms. Hoang Thi Thanh Tam.
However, according to Ms. Hoang Thi Thanh Tam, when introducing products to the world, Indochina encountered difficulties in customer trust; payment and information security; logistics and supply chain. In addition, other issues such as: time zone difference, language, customer preferences, etc. were also obstacles.
From a management perspective, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Duong - Deputy Director of the Center for Information Technology Application and Digital Transformation in Trade Promotion, Department of Trade Promotion, Ministry of Industry and Trade, acknowledged that the difficulties of Vietnamese enterprises when exporting goods are strict regulations of the export market, the capacity of enterprises and the costs of participating in import and export activities.
To support businesses, the Department of Trade Promotion is currently working closely with the Alibaba.com e-commerce platform to build and develop the Vietnam National Pavilion - Vietnam Pavilion on the Alibaba.com e-commerce platform. This will be a gathering place for 100 typical businesses participating in cross-border e-commerce, helping to promote Vietnamese brands through the international market, promoting trade between international buyers and sellers in Vietnam.
Conditions for exported goods to be exported through this platform include 14 criteria in 5 groups.
The first group is mandatory, that is, you must have a booth on Alibaba.com; The second group is the criteria group of Vietnamese enterprises trading made-in-Vietnam products; The third group is the factor of reputation and quality; The fourth group must focus on e-commerce capabilities and finally the criteria group of incentives and support.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Uyen added that businesses need to equip themselves with more knowledge to understand the market, goals and customer segments; marketing and using marketing tools; using customer information security tools; proactively approaching and selling products without having to go through e-commerce platforms...
“Because market trends are constantly changing, businesses need to constantly learn from the media, or from successful people and businesses that have gone before them,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Uyen.
