Fertilizer exports increased by 6.7% in value over the same period

According to data from the General Department of Customs, as of May 15, Vietnam had exported 664,202 tons of fertilizer, reaching 270 million USD, up 11.7% in volume and 6.7% in value over the same period.

In the first four months of 2024 alone, Vietnam exported fertilizer to 10 markets, of which Cambodia, the largest fertilizer importer from Vietnam, witnessed a slight decline with 145,783 tons, down 3.7% in volume compared to the same period last year. Fertilizer export turnover to Cambodia during the period also decreased by 9.6% compared to the same period, to 59.2 million USD.

The list of markets importing fertilizers from Vietnam in the ASEAN bloc also includes Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Thailand. Specifically, Vietnam exported 45,012 tons of fertilizers to Malaysia worth 15.4 million USD, up 18% in volume and 19% in value over the same period.

Vietnam exported 664,202 tons of fertilizer, reaching 270 million USD, up 11.7% in volume and 6.7% in value.

Fertilizer exports to the Philippines in the first four months of 2024 reached 38,633 tons with a turnover of 18.5 million USD. Compared to the same period last year, the growth in fertilizer export volume and value to this market was relatively high, with +281% and +193% respectively.

Fertilizer exports to Myanmar reached 20,790 tons with a turnover of 10.5 million USD, up 22% and 5% year-on-year, respectively. Fertilizer exports to Laos reached 14,866 tons, down 7.2% year-on-year, worth 3.9 million USD, down 40.9% year-on-year.

Thailand is the 6th market for Vietnam to export fertilizers in ASEAN, with 8,031 tons in the first 4 months of 2024, up 11% year-on-year, and in value up 12% year-on-year, to 3.7 million USD.

In addition to the ASEAN group, Vietnam also exported fertilizer to South Korea with 83,385 tons, up 74% over the same period, with a turnover of 34.4 million USD, up 96% over the same period.

The volume of fertilizer exported to the Taiwanese market (China) in the first 4 months of 2024 recorded a sudden growth of 511%, reaching 14,548 tons (the same period last year was only 2,380 tons), the turnover increased by 454% over the same period, reaching 6.1 million USD. Fertilizer exported to Japan also grew by 3 digits with +464% in volume and +450% in value, reaching 15,084 tons and 6.6 million USD respectively.

If there was no export data in the same period last year, in the first 4 months of 2024, Vietnam recorded fertilizer exports to Mozambique with 1,365 tons and a turnover of 0.8 million USD.

Regarding the average export price in the first 4 months of 2024, Mozambique is the market with the highest price at 592 USD/ton. Myanmar is the second with 509 USD/ton.

Vietnam's average fertilizer export to the Philippines reached 481 USD/ton; Thailand reached 465 USD/ton, Japan with 440 USD/ton, Taiwan (China) with 422 USD/ton, South Korea with 413 USD/ton.

The largest export market is Cambodia, ranked 8th in terms of average price with 406 USD/ton. The remaining two markets are Laos and Malaysia with 263 USD/ton and 343 USD/ton.
