Tea exports to the Chinese market increased sharply by 245.6% in volume and 108.8% in value over the same period in 2023.


The Import-Export Department cited statistics from the General Department of Customs as saying that Vietnam's tea exports in September 2024 reached 13,090 tons, worth 23.12 million USD, down 15.9% in volume and 21.2% in value compared to August 2024; but up 21.3% in volume and 22.5% in value compared to September 2023. The average export price of tea in September 2024 reached 1,766 USD/ton, down 6.2% compared to August 2024, but up 0.9% compared to September 2023.

In general, in the first 9 months of 2024, Vietnam's tea exports reached 105.84 thousand tons, worth 185.65 million USD, up 29.5% in volume and 31.9% in value over the same period in 2023. The average tea export price in the first 9 months of 2024 reached 1,754 USD/ton, up 1.8% over the same period in 2023.

In September 2024, tea exports to most markets decreased compared to August 2024: Tea exports to Pakistan decreased by 21.5% in volume and 22.4% in value; to Taiwan decreased by 33.3% and 32.2%; to Indonesia decreased by 2.5% and 16.0%; to the United States decreased by 51.3% and 58.8%; to Malaysia decreased by 43.8% and 48.2%...

Compared to September 2024, tea exports to the Pakistan market increased by 30.8% in volume and 40.5% in value; to China increased sharply by 387.9% and 123.0%; to Russia increased by 60.5% and 103.1%... On the contrary, tea exports to the Taiwan market decreased by 11.3% and 13.3%; to Indonesia decreased by 9.5% and 19.7%; to the United States decreased by 18.9% and 11.9%...

In the first 9 months of 2024, Pakistan consumed 33.3% of Vietnam's total tea exports, reaching 35.22 thousand tons, worth 74.18 million USD, up 5.5% in volume and 15.1% in value over the same period in 2023.

Notably, tea exports to the Chinese market increased sharply by 245.6% in volume and 108.8% in value over the same period in 2023, reaching 10.47 thousand tons, worth 14.94 million USD.
