According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, in the first half of February (February 1-15), footwear export turnover reached approximately 500 million USD.

In total, from the beginning of the year to February 15, footwear exports earned nearly 2.5 billion USD, an increase of nearly 16% over the same period last year (equivalent to an additional turnover of more than 300 million USD).

This is a very positive result in the context that in 2023, this industry faced many challenges with export turnover reaching only 20.24 billion USD, down 15.3% (equivalent to a decrease of 3.66 billion USD) compared to the previous year.

According to the Vietnam Leather, Footwear and Handbag Association, the export market of the leather and footwear industry still focuses on major markets such as the United States, EU, Japan, Korea, China, etc.

According to analysis by many experts, 2024 has optimistic signals for footwear export activities.

That is, major economies and important export markets of Vietnam's footwear industry have improved.

In addition, Vietnam has signed and participated in 15 free trade agreements (FTAs) with a tax reduction roadmap that will continue to support domestic footwear enterprises in developing the market...

With the above factors and the positive export results over the past month, it is expected that this important industry will have positive growth in 2024.
