Building Quang Ninh into an automobile manufacturing center

In recent years, Quang Ninh has focused on attracting investment in the processing and manufacturing industry, thereby gradually realizing the policy of shifting the structure of sustainable economic development from "brown" to "green". In particular, the province has focused on attracting investment in the field of automobile manufacturing and supporting industries, gradually building Quang Ninh into one of the automobile manufacturing centers.

Today, March 26, Thanh Cong Group (TC Group) officially inaugurated and put into commercial operation Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory in Viet Hung Industrial Park, Ha Long City, after nearly 2 years of construction. This is truly a very joyful event, marking a new step forward in the processing and manufacturing industry of Quang Ninh province.

Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory is the central project in the Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile and Supporting Industry Complex invested by Thanh Cong Group, specializing in manufacturing and assembling Škoda brand cars, the largest automobile brand in the Czech Republic. The project is built on an area of 36.5 hectares, located in the Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile and Supporting Industry Complex with a total scale of 400 hectares, with a capital of VND 8,679 billion.

The factory has a production and assembly capacity of 120,000 cars/year. The main production areas of the factory are the welding workshop, the painting workshop, and the assembly workshop, equipped with a modern production line system with a high level of automation, applying advanced technologies in the world in the automotive industry. The entire production process at the factory is strictly controlled through an intelligent data management system, helping to optimize productivity and ensure product quality meets international standards. This is also the first Škoda Auto branded car assembly and manufacturing factory in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. It is expected that in the second quarter of 2025, the first car product, the Skoda Kushaq, will be launched in the domestic consumer market.

After Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory officially goes into commercial operation, Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile and Supporting Industry Complex will continue to attract investment projects to build battery and engine factories; warehouse areas; R&D areas; supporting areas; port areas; service areas, etc.

To continue promoting the development of the automobile manufacturing industry, along with attracting supporting sectors for the automobile industry, the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province has just decided to establish an Industrial Cluster serving the supporting industry in Ha Khau ward, Ha Long city. In which, the main business activities are the production of car bodies, spare parts, and auxiliary parts for cars and other motor vehicles.

The investor in the construction of the technical infrastructure of this Industrial Cluster is Viet Hung Industrial Park Development Joint Stock Company, Viet Hung Ward, Ha Long City. The scale of investment in the construction of technical infrastructure is 68.22 hectares. By the end of the second quarter of 2025, the establishment and approval of the investment report on the establishment of the industrial cluster will be completed; the establishment and approval of the detailed planning for the construction of the industrial cluster; the establishment and approval of the investment project for the construction of the infrastructure of the industrial cluster will be completed. From the third quarter of 2025 to the end of the first quarter of 2026, compensation and site clearance will be carried out. From the second quarter of 2026 to the end of the second quarter of 2027, technical infrastructure and related items will be built. From the third quarter of 2027, production, business and service provision will be operated.

The inauguration and commercial operation of Thanh Cong Viet Hung Automobile Factory and Quang Ninh's decision to establish an industrial cluster to support the automobile industry have demonstrated a large, long-term, and sustainable strategy with the goal of gradually turning Quang Ninh into one of the country's major automobile manufacturing centers, promoting the domestic automobile industry to participate in the global automobile supply chain. Not only that, the development of the automobile industry will contribute to attracting investment in the processing and manufacturing sector in Quang Ninh province, thereby creating many jobs for local and regional people; positively contributing to the state budget and economic growth of Quang Ninh province.
