Thanks to the advantage of a coastal commune, Thach Kim has made efforts to form many OCOP products of Loc Ha district and is one of the localities with the most qualified products in Ha Tinh.
Thach Kim's OCOP products participated in the exhibition and introduction on the sidelines of the conference to announce the Provincial Planning and promote investment in Ha Tinh in 2023.
These days, the seafood processing facility of Mr. Nguyen Van Thang's household in Long Hai village (Thach Kim commune) is urgently preparing Ngoc Tich fish sauce products to sell to the traditional Tet market.
The fish sauce is made from pure fresh anchovies, selected from batches of fish caught by Loc Ha fishermen in their hometown sea. The ingredients are fresh, marinated with refined salt, through many stages, salted for more than 2 years... to have a beautiful color, thick, delicious, well-rounded flavor famous in the region.

Ngoc Tich fish sauce products were recognized as meeting 3-star OCOP standards 10 days ago. In 2023, this production facility will achieve an output of 16,000 bottles (equivalent to 12,300 liters) for a value of 1.48 billion VND, with a profit of about 140 million VND.
Currently, the owner of the facility has invested an additional 1.1 billion VND to buy equipment, upgrade the factory, attract workers, expand the consumer market... Thereby, striving to reach 17,600 bottles this year, with revenue of 1.62 billion VND, profit of 200 million VND and by 2025 reach 26,400 bottles, with revenue of 2.44 billion VND, profit of about 250 million VND...

Mr. Nguyen Van Thang shared: “Fish sauce has long been an indispensable condiment in daily meals and the demand for traditional fish sauce instead of industrial fish sauce among consumers is increasing. On the other hand, inside and outside the district, there are still many traditional fish sauce production facilities that have not registered their trademarks and do not have labels, so production efficiency is not good. Therefore, we have boldly built a business strategy by investing in expanding production, improving product quality, and increasing competitiveness in the market. The birth of Ngoc Tich fish sauce is considered the crystallization of the hometown flavor and that investment and production process."
At the end of December 2023, the Council for Evaluation, Scoring and Classification of OCOP Products of Loc Ha district recognized 3 more products meeting 3-star OCOP standards in the area; Thach Kim commune alone has 2 products: Ngoc Tich fish sauce and Tho Van fish sauce.

In fact, since implementing the One Commune One Product Program, Thach Kim has 7 OCOP products (accounting for nearly 44% of the total products of the district) that have achieved 3-star standards: Huong Xuan Cream Shredded Pork, Dong Chau Fish Sauce, Ngoc Diep Dried Squid, Nga Son Fish Sauce, Bo Lo Fish Sauce, Ngoc Tich Fish Sauce and Tho Van Fish Sauce.
Busy fishing boats coming and going at Cua Sot fishing port bring abundant, quality raw materials for Thach Kim to develop OCOP seafood products.
This shows that Thach Kim is considered a "mine" for OCOP product formation in Loc Ha district and is one of the most prominent communes in the province in implementing the One Commune One Product Program in recent years. In addition to the products that have met the standards, in this coastal commune, there are also 3 products that have been invested in machinery, expanded factories, upgraded processes, built profiles... to be recognized as Bich Lan One-sun-dried Squid, Hop Thanh Dried Squid and Nga Son Dried Squid.
At the same time, dozens of other seafood processing facilities in Thach Kim are also building breakthrough production strategies to have high-quality products with beautiful designs, affirming their brands in the market.
Anchovies are the main ingredient for producing high quality fish sauce, meeting OCOP standards in Thach Kim.
Chairman of Thach Kim Commune People's Committee Nguyen Dinh Hung said: "Our people are experienced and have the know-how in producing traditional fish sauce, and the local labor force is always abundant, diligent, and dedicated to their ancestors' profession. This combined with the advantage of abundant, fresh raw materials (anchovies, herring) and proximity to Thach Chau's high-quality salt warehouses makes production very favorable. Along with that, we have promptly and effectively implemented policies to encourage OCOP development and regularly encourage and support production facilities to produce high-quality products that meet 3-star standards, aiming to upgrade to 4-star standards."
Batches of fresh squid are selected by production facilities in Thach Kim to be processed and dried into OCOP products.
Mr. Phan Ba Ninh - an officer of the Office of New Rural Development in Loc Ha district said: "Along with the advantages of raw materials, human resources, and production experience, Thach Kim commune also has many advantages to develop OCOP products such as: the district has many policies to support production, the area is increasingly developing trade and tourism, the work of connecting and expanding the market is of interest... Production facilities in Thach Kim are also always determined to build OCOP products and consider this a vital factor in production, so the number of qualified products is increasing, economic efficiency is increasing, there are many potential products to upgrade the star".
