The Vietnamese futsal team had a dramatic match with Kazakhstan in an international friendly on the evening of April 15.
Kazakhstan started very strongly and quickly took a 2-0 lead after only 12 minutes of play through young goalkeeper Van Luong (born in 2003).
Immediately after that, coach Diego Giustozzi quickly replaced the 2003-born goalkeeper with senior Van Tu. This change brought an excellent performance with a series of important saves, helping to maintain the team's spirit.
At the end of the first half, Dinh Cong Vien scored to shorten the score to 1-2 from a quick counter-attack from home field.

In the second half, Manh Dung quickly equalized 2-2 with a delicate goal after a classy backheel pass from Thinh Phat in the 23rd minute. The game returned to the starting line, the Kazakhstan futsal team continuously deployed power-play, creating many dangerous opportunities but could not defeat the Vietnamese defense.
Even if Diego's team had been luckier, they could have had the joy when Trinh Cong Dai and Gia Hung missed their chances and unfortunately Ngoc Anh's shot hit the crossbar. In the end, the 2-2 draw was successfully defended by the Vietnamese futsal team and they won the match with a score of 6-3 after two matches.

After the match, coach Diego shared: "I want to win, the players also want to win. This match deserved a victory for the Vietnamese team. More importantly, I saw the performance of the players on the field. International friendly matches like this are essential for the players to learn, gain experience and improve themselves. After the last four matches, I am satisfied with the players' playing skills. Despite the absence of Duc Hoa, Minh Tri, and Ngoc Linh, the combination of new elements with the team has achieved certain success."
He also said that the upcoming plan will focus on building a squad with many new faces for the future.
As for the players who have participated in the last four matches, he believes that these are promising faces. In particular, the newly called-up young players are all highly rated and just need more time to gain international experience.
Closing the friendly match series in April, the Vietnamese futsal team was completely undefeated when defeating Saudi Arabia (ranked 50) in both matches.
In particular, Mr. Diego's team won 1 and drew 1 against the world's top 7 team Kazakhstan.
