Rural transport infrastructure is built synchronously, contributing to creating conditions for people in Na Phon commune, Mai Chau district to develop the economy.
Na Phon commune was established on the basis of merging Na Phon and Na Meo communes according to Resolution No. 830, dated December 17, 20219 of the National Assembly Standing Committee. At that time, Na Phon commune (old) had reached the NTM finish line and Na Meo was a particularly difficult commune.
Comrade Lo Van Hiep, Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee shared: "In implementing the New Rural Development Program, Na Phon has encountered many difficulties and challenges when difficult criteria such as income, multidimensional poverty, transportation, and residential housing have not been met. From that reality, the commune focuses on leading, directing and building a specific action program on New Rural Development, suitable to the actual situation, at the same time taking advantage of investment and support from the province and district to implement the set goals; effectively mobilizing internal resources in the community".
Identifying rural traffic as an important criterion, a lever to implement other criteria, the commune has mobilized all local resources to implement this criterion according to the motto: "people know, people do, people supervise, people enjoy". Accordingly, many families have voluntarily donated land and become active propagandists to mobilize people to donate land, move fences, architectural objects, crops, and contribute working days to build clean and beautiful roads, contributing to socio-economic development. In the commune, many works have appeared with the collective mark and the beauty of solidarity of the whole community. Up to now, 100% of commune roads, alleys, and inter-hamlets have been asphalted and concreted; over 51% of main roads in the fields have been hardened, convenient for motor vehicles to pass through. In particular, the movement to renovate residential areas, build flower roads, and provide lighting has contributed to changing the appearance and landscape of the countryside.
Irrigation and disaster prevention systems have been invested in and built to ensure sustainability and adaptation to climate change; the area of agricultural land with active irrigation has reached over 80%. Infrastructure for electricity, roads, schools, and stations has been invested to ensure standards are met.
Along with completing the infrastructure system, Na Phon prioritizes economic restructuring, restructuring of crops and livestock associated with training, coaching, and transferring scientific and technical advances among farmers, especially in hamlets with high poverty rates such as Xam Pa, Na Mo, Xo... In which, resources are focused from 3 national target programs to implement projects to support poor households such as: job conversion, purchasing agricultural machinery, vocational training... Thanks to that, agricultural production has changed positively, many effective models are maintained such as: growing green squash, bananas, baby melons, winter crops, medicinal herbs, raising sows and pigs, raising crossbred goats, local breeding cows... With synchronous solutions in economic development, people's lives have gradually improved. Average income per capita increased from 32.7 million VND (in 2020) to 46.58 million VND (in 2024). The multidimensional poverty rate decreased from 28% at the time of the merger to 12.38%, of which poor households accounted for 8.47% and near-poor households accounted for 3.91%. The rate of people using hygienic water reached 100%. In the period of 2020 - 2024, the commune eliminated 22 temporary and dilapidated houses. Up to now, there are no more temporary and dilapidated houses in the commune, the rate of housing meeting the prescribed standards reached 96.6%.
In particular, based on the potential and strengths of the locality, Na Phon commune actively promotes and raises people's awareness in preserving and promoting the value of the nation's cultural heritage. The commune currently has 19 homestays and 2 resorts. Households maintain 100 brocade weaving looms; 22 art troupes have been established. Every year, the commune attracts thousands of tourists to visit and experience; in 2024, tourism revenue reached over 12 billion VND. The commune has 6/7 hamlets meeting cultural standards, 82.35% of cultural families... With the right policy and creative and appropriate ways of doing things, Na Phon commune has created a clear breakthrough in the journey to the NTM finish line.
