Since childhood, Ho Thi Khanh Huyen (born in 2011), a student at Dakrong District Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, has been told many meaningful stories about Uncle Ho by her grandparents and parents. Those stories nurtured her soul, evoking her desire to become a good grandchild of Uncle Ho. Recently, upon receiving the news that she would be honored to participate and be honored at the 9th Provincial Congress of Good Grandchildren of Uncle Ho, Khanh Huyen was very happy. In the past few days, she just wished time would pass faster.
Khanh Huyen’s joy today is the result of a lot of effort. Born and raised in A Bung commune, Dakrong district, Huyen experienced poverty from a young age. Although her parents worked on the fields all year round, they were often helpless in the face of life’s demands. Knowing this, Khanh Huyen quickly trained herself to be independent. No matter how hard it was, she never let her dreams and goals be lost.
In addition to studying hard, Khanh Huyen also actively improves her skills, participates in and wins high prizes in many competitions, for example: Top 5 Miss Baby Vietnam; "Inspiring Child Model" award at Kids Model Viet Nam Awards 2022; First prize in the painting competition organized by the Provincial Youth Union, Department of Education and Training, Provincial Women's Union; National Encouragement Prize in the competition "A day as a child reporter on disaster prevention and control"...
Recently, Huyen was honored to become a delegate of the National Festival of Outstanding Children of Ethnic Groups. Those achievements have contributed to her being “chosen” and awarded the title of Uncle Ho’s Good Child. “I have achieved many achievements that exceeded my expectations. However, the title of Uncle Ho’s Good Child is still very meaningful to me,” Khanh Huyen affirmed.
In Gio Linh district, the story of Nguyen Van Minh Chi's perseverance in overcoming difficulties (born in 2011), a student at Gio Viet Primary and Secondary School, is often mentioned by teachers and friends with love and affection. Minh Chi was paralyzed from birth. He underwent his first orthopedic surgery just 3 days after birth. Later, despite undergoing dozens of other surgeries, Minh Chi's condition did not improve significantly.
What is special is that the physical disabilities did not take away Chi's love of letters. At the age of 4, he wrote his first letters with his feet, and then went to school like other healthy, able-bodied children. Knowing his disadvantages, Chi always focused on finding joy and hope in studying. For many years, he won the title of excellent student.
Not only that, Chi also actively participates in large and small competitions. Talking about being selected to attend the 9th Provincial Uncle Ho's Good Children Congress, Minh Chi said: "This is a great happiness and honor for me. I will continue to strive to live up to the expectations of those who always love, support and encourage me."
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Deputy Head of the Youth Union of the Provincial Youth Union, in recent times, the team members and children of Quang Tri have continuously made efforts in studying, training, and actively participating in activities and movements. Many children have become good children, good students, good team members, and good children of Uncle Ho.
According to statistics, in the period 2020 - 2025, the army at all levels in the province commended and awarded the title of Uncle Ho's Good Children to more than 69,844 team members and children. After receiving the title, the children continued to set good examples in studying and training, and were positive factors in schools, teams, and residential areas.
Talking about the 90 children honored at the Uncle Ho's Good Children Congress this time, Ms. Thu Ha affirmed that all of them are exemplary models. Notably, many of them have overcome adversity and achieved things that not everyone can. In addition to Khanh Huyen and Minh Chi, the stories about the extraordinary will to live of many team members and children participating in the Uncle Ho's Good Children Congress this time made the union and team officials very touched and appreciative.
At Hai Hoa Primary and Secondary School, Hai Lang District, Nguyen Thi Hong Duyen is a shining example for team members and children to follow. Orphaned from a young age, Duyen lacked many things. However, she always strives to improve every day in studying and training. Every year, Duyen has impressive academic achievements. Not only that, she is also an active factor in the activities of the school, the team, the children's rights club, the skills club...
It is noted that in addition to their own efforts, the achievements on the journey of rising up of the majority of team members and children in difficult circumstances have received great attention and support from the Youth Union and Team leaders at all levels. Not only regularly visiting and encouraging, the leaders of the Youth Union and Team also actively support team members and children with scholarships, gifts, rewards...
Many youth organizations and teams have chosen them as “adopted children of the youth organization”, becoming trustworthy sponsors. That has given more motivation, helping team members and children in difficult circumstances to rise up stronger, actively follow the example of their predecessors, and be more determined to realize their dream of becoming good children of Uncle Ho. That is also the most meaningful gift that the children give to those who always accompany and help them in their studies and life.
