Vu Thu: Planting nearly 7,500 hectares of spring rice

On the afternoon of March 6, Vu Thu district held a conference to review the 2025 spring crop production and deploy a number of key tasks of the agricultural and environmental sectors in the coming time.

Vu Thu district awarded OCOP certificates to entities participating in evaluating and classifying products of the One Commune One Product OCOP program in 2024.

In the 2025 spring rice crop, Vu Thu district planted 7,454.39 hectares, a decrease of 126.35 hectares compared to the 2024 spring crop. In terms of planting methods, the area of ​​transplanted rice accounts for 51.1% of the total area; the rest is direct-sown rice area. Up to this point, weather conditions are relatively favorable for planting and caring for spring rice; the rice is growing well; farmers in the district are following the crop calendar and rice variety structure well.

Regarding spring vegetables, as of March 1, the whole district has planted 2,297.94 hectares, reaching 79.1% of the plan. Up to now, the entire spring vegetable area has grown and developed favorably. Some vegetable areas have been damaged by pests and diseases such as vine wilt, downy mildew on melons and squash, and root rot on peanuts, etc.

The District People's Committee directed to maintain concentrated production in areas with investment in production infrastructure in the communes of Trung An, Vu Tien, Hiep Hoa, Tu Tan, Tan Phong, Hong Phong. In order to improve the quality and value of agricultural products, the district has supported 9 communes to produce and be granted certificates of good agricultural practices (VietGAP), growing area codes, and traceability with an area of ​​49.64 hectares.

At the conference, Vu Thu district deployed a plan to organize the first month of sanitation, disinfection, and sterilization to prevent and control livestock and poultry diseases in 2025; a plan to vaccinate livestock and poultry in the spring-summer crop of 2025 and water regulation work in the coming time.

On this occasion, Vu Thu district awarded OCOP certificates to entities participating in evaluating and classifying products of the One Commune One Product OCOP program in 2024.
