Regarding the fire caused by jealousy at a rented room in Dong Nai province, Cho Ray Hospital has just informed that 2 out of 3 victims admitted and treated there have died. Cho Ray Hospital added that the cause of death was that the victim was admitted to the hospital in critical condition, with deep burns over 90% of the body.
Previously, on the morning of June 3, Cho Ray Hospital received 3 patients in the fire transferred from Ba Ria - Vung Tau Hospital. Among them, a male patient named H. (45 years old) suffered severe burns, burns over 90% of his body, was being monitored for respiratory burns, respiratory failure, and low blood pressure; a male patient named T. (15 years old) also suffered burns over 90%, extensive and deep burns, and respiratory burns; a female patient with 10% burns, but doctors said that the situation could not be assessed yet because this person also suffered respiratory burns, which often progressed severely. Cho Ray Hospital doctors have raised the red alert, focusing on many specialties to provide emergency care for the patient.
Due to the severity of the condition, doctors performed resuscitation and airway endoscopy at the Emergency Department. The patients were then transferred to the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery, Cho Ray Hospital for further treatment. However, the patients' conditions gradually worsened. By the night of June 3, the 46-year-old man had died. Early this morning (June 4), despite intensive resuscitation, the 15-year-old male patient also did not survive.
As Health and Life reported, early in the morning of June 3, 2 rooms of a 15-room rental building in Phuoc Binh Commune, Long Thanh District (Dong Nai) caught fire. The fire resulted in 7 people suffering severe burns, who were taken to Ba Ria Hospital for emergency treatment and then transferred to Ho Chi Minh City.
3 adults were transferred to Cho Ray Hospital, including 2 patients in very serious condition; 4 children were transferred to Children's Hospital 1 and Children's Hospital 2.
The victims of the fire were identified as: Nguyen Tri Hieu (45 years old), TTKT (33 years old, from Can Tho city); HHS (15 years old, son of Ms. T.), VNA (13 years old, living in Long Thanh); VHP (13 years old); DAT (15 years old) and a person named K.
According to Long Thanh District Police, initial determination was that Nguyen Tri Hieu lived in room number 10 in the boarding house, and out of jealousy, he set fire to room number 3 where his lover was staying, then set fire to his own room.
The case is currently under investigation.
