Fire caused by jealousy in Dong Nai: 1 more victim died

Information from Children's Hospital 1 (HCMC) said that after a period of intensive treatment, patient VKM (13 years old) died due to severe respiratory and body burns. The patient was a victim of a jealousy-related fire that occurred in Dong Nai, requiring 7 emergency care workers on June 3.

Accordingly, Children's Hospital 1 received two severely burned children, VMK (male) and VNA (female), both 13 years old. Specifically, K. suffered from burn shock, 3rd-4th degree burns, 90% burn area, then was put on a ventilator, intensive treatment, anti-shock, antibiotics, bronchial lavage endoscopy. Despite the doctors' best efforts to save her, she did not survive due to severe respiratory burns, along with burns all over her body.

For the VNA patient, he was diagnosed with burn shock, 3rd-4th degree burns, 80% area, on a ventilator, anti-shock, antibiotics, bronchial lavage endoscopy. His condition is also very serious. Currently, doctors continue to closely monitor the child's progress.

Also related to the fire, Children's Hospital 2 in Ho Chi Minh City also received 2 victims with 2nd-3rd degree burns due to fire, 60% of the body surface, mainly the head, face and neck. Doctors noted a lot of coal dust in the respiratory tract. The child was intubated to control the airway and prevent burn shock, intensive treatment, and the prognosis was poor. However, a 15-year-old child was so seriously ill that the family asked to go home yesterday (June 12). The 13-year-old child is still being treated but is also very serious.

Thus, 3/7 victims did not survive, including: NTH (46 years old, arson suspect, died at Cho Ray Hospital), a 15-year-old male patient (died at Cho Ray), and VMK (13 years old, died at Children's Hospital 1).

A 15-year-old patient was sent home. The other two children were in serious condition. A 33-year-old woman with 10% burns and respiratory burns is being monitored at Cho Ray Hospital.

Previously, as reported by Nguoi Lao Dong, on June 3, people in Phuoc Binh commune, Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province, heard cries for help in a row of 15 rooms. Authorities immediately went to the scene to put out the fire and coordinated with people to rescue the victims. The fire left 7 people with severe burns and they were taken to the emergency room of Ba Ria Vung Tau province because it was close to the scene. Initially, the police determined that out of jealousy, Nguyen Tri Hieu set fire to the room where his lover was staying. Hieu then set fire to his own room.
