Vinh Long commemorates 16th anniversary of Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet's death

Attending the ceremony were former Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh; Secretary of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee Bui Van Nghiem, leaders and former leaders of Vinh Long province through the periods, relatives of the late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet and local people.

In a solemn atmosphere, delegates respectfully offered flowers and incense to commemorate the great contributions of Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet - a staunch and indomitable communist soldier; an excellent student of President Ho Chi Minh; a prestigious leader of the Party, State and people; an outstanding son of the Vietnamese people and his homeland Vinh Long.

Comrade Vo Van Kiet's birth name was Phan Van Hoa, born on November 23, 1922 in Trung Hiep commune, Vung Liem district, Vinh Long province. During the two long resistance wars of the nation, he always set a shining example of the spirit of proactive revolutionary attack, defeating all enemy plots, contributing with the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army to the historic victory in the spring of 1975.

After the country's reunification, comrade Vo Van Kiet was assigned many important responsibilities by the Party and the State. Regardless of his position, he always, together with the Party Central Committee and the Government, led the entire Party, people and army to carry out the cause of national renewal, improve people's lives; at the same time, build the political system, ensure national defense and security, continuously expand foreign relations, and enhance the position of our country in the international arena.

Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet Memorial Site is located in Vung Liem town, Vung Liem district, Vinh Long province.

In particular, as the head of the Government, he has resolutely, thoroughly and specifically implemented many major policies on innovation. He always has big, bold ideas but based on science and practice, and dares to take responsibility, resolutely organizing the implementation of those ideas.

For Vinh Long province, every time he had the opportunity to return to his hometown, Comrade Vo Van Kiet spent time working with local leaders, paying attention to the socio-economic development situation, learning about people's lives. Thereby, he gave suggestions to remove difficulties and obstacles or informed provincial leaders about models that brought high economic efficiency in other localities for learning.
