Vingroup proposes to build renewable energy and LNG thermal power plant

Vingroup Corporation submitted to the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister for consideration and approval to add renewable energy power projects and LNG thermal power plants to the adjusted Power Plan VIII and the Implementation Plan for the adjusted Power Plan VIII.

Accordingly, for renewable energy projects, Vingroup proposed to implement a total capacity of 47,500 MW for renewable energy projects in the 2025 - 2035 period, of which 20,500 MW for the 2025 - 2030 period, with a total investment of about 20 - 25 billion USD.

Regarding the LNG thermal power plant, Vingroup proposed to add the LNG thermal power plant project in Hai Phong to the adjusted Plan VIII to compensate for the capacity of some large thermal power plant projects that are slow to be implemented, such as: Nam Dinh I BOT Thermal Power Plant (1,200 MW); Quang Tri BOT Thermal Power Plant (1,320 MW); Vinh Tan III BOT Thermal Power Plant (1,980 MW); Song Hau II BOT Thermal Power Plant (2,120 MW).

Hai Phong LNG Thermal Power Plant has a capacity of 5,000 MW, implementation period 2025 - 2030, total investment of about 5.5 billion USD.

Vingroup also committed to implementing the 2025-2030 phase project of 25,500 MW (total investment of about 25-30 billion USD) of renewable energy and LNG electricity.

The remaining 27,000 MW will be invested in the 2031-2035 period according to the approved schedule, ensuring the highest quality of the project.

Previously, in early October 2023, Vingroup Corporation sent a document to the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province proposing to survey and study the investment in the Vung Ang 3 LNG gas power plant project in Vung Ang Economic Zone.

Vingroup Corporation's proposal will include the construction of an LNG receiving port system, a storage facility, and an LNG power plant. The LNG receiving port system has a capacity of 1.5 million tons/year, including a combined cycle gas turbine power plant with a total capacity of 1,600MW...
