Vietnam Airlines Corporation has just launched a direct flight between Vietnam and the Philippines, thereby marking its position as the first Vietnamese airline to open a direct flight to this beautiful island nation. The inaugural flight, flight number VN648, departed from Ho Chi Minh City at 0:50 on June 17 and landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Manila at 4:20 on the same day. Vietnam Airlines operates a total of 7 flights per week between Vietnam and the Philippines. Specifically, the flight route between Ho Chi Minh City and Manila has a frequency of 4 flights/week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The flight route between Hanoi and Manila has a frequency of 3 flights/week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Vietnam Airlines flights to and from the Philippines will be operated at Terminal T1, Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Manila. The Philippines is one of Vietnam Airlines' potential markets. The airline will serve tourists, business travelers, as well as the community of nearly 30,000 Vietnamese living in the Philippines and about 7,000 Filipinos residing in Vietnam. In recent years, Vietnam has become an increasingly attractive destination for Filipino tourists thanks to its geographical proximity, reasonable travel costs and rich culture. With a short distance, Filipino tourists can easily explore the beautiful beaches, famous landscapes and unique cultural experiences in the S-shaped country. In the context of the aviation industry lacking aircraft due to the impact of global engine recalls by manufacturers, Vietnam Airlines received 3 more aircraft to meet passenger travel needs.
