Vietnam - Kyrgyzstan promote comprehensive partnership

At the invitation of Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Kasymaliev paid an official visit to Vietnam from March 6 to 7, 2025. This is the first visit to Vietnam by the head of the Kyrgyz Government since the two countries established diplomatic relations, marking an important step forward in consolidating political trust and enhancing the traditional friendship between the two countries.

During the visit, Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev held talks with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, paid a courtesy call to General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, and met with National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man. He also laid flowers and visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, laid wreaths at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs, and met with representatives of the Vietnamese business community.

The two sides highly appreciated the socio-economic development achievements of each country in recent times, and expressed satisfaction with the positive progress in the cooperation between Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan in many fields. The two countries pledged to continue to strengthen bilateral cooperation, aiming to upgrade the relationship to a comprehensive partnership at the appropriate time.

Political and diplomatic cooperation

The two sides agreed to increase delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels, especially at high levels, through various channels between the Kyrgyz Government and the Communist Party, Government, National Assembly and local authorities of Vietnam. The two countries also stressed the importance of establishing intergovernmental and inter-sectoral cooperation mechanisms.

In the diplomatic field, the two sides will step up political consultations between the two foreign ministries to discuss bilateral and international issues of mutual concern. Kyrgyzstan supports Vietnam in strengthening relations with Central Asian countries, while Vietnam supports Kyrgyzstan in promoting cooperation with ASEAN and Southeast Asian countries.

Economic, trade and investment cooperation

The two sides expressed their desire to promote cooperation in the fields of economics, trade, investment, infrastructure, transportation, industry, agriculture, energy, renewable energy, digitalization and tourism. The two countries also agreed to consider establishing a Vietnam-Kyrgyzstan Intergovernmental Committee on economic and trade cooperation in the coming time.

The two sides highly appreciated the positive results of the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union, and expressed their willingness to exploit the advantages of this agreement to promote bilateral trade. In addition, the two countries will also increase the exchange of information on markets, policies, and laws, and sign cooperation agreements in areas such as double taxation avoidance, investment promotion and protection.

Cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchange

The two sides affirmed the important role of cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchanges in enhancing friendship and mutual understanding between the two peoples. The two countries will promote cooperation in research on cultural and natural heritages, organize cultural events, and enhance exchanges in areas such as theater, cinema, music and sports.

Kyrgyz Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev expressed his deep gratitude for the warm welcome of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the leaders and people of Vietnam. He also respectfully invited Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to visit Kyrgyzstan at a convenient time to continue discussing measures to enhance bilateral relations. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh happily accepted the invitation, and the time of the visit will be arranged through diplomatic channels.

The visit to Vietnam by Kyrgyz Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev opened a new chapter in the cooperative relationship between the two countries, promising strong steps forward in the future.
