On September 4, within the framework of the Korea Investment and Startup Week 2024, the cooperation between Vietnam and Korea continued to be strengthened through the signing of an important Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Daejeon Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (DCCEI) and the Vietnam University and College Innovation and Entrepreneurship Network (VNEI). This event marked a new step forward in the long-term and increasingly extensive cooperation between the two countries in the fields of science, technology, and innovation.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Hoang Minh affirmed the key role of science and technology in economic development and promoting international cooperation. He emphasized that the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Korea has been continuously developing over the past 30 years, especially in the field of startups and innovation.
Deputy Minister Hoang Minh called on Korean investors to increase investment in the startup ecosystem in Vietnam. He emphasized that Vietnam currently has more than 4,000 startups, including 3 unicorns and more than 10 businesses that have raised over 100 million USD in capital. These are important steps to affirm Vietnam's attractiveness as a strategic investment destination in the field of technology and startups.
He also shared about the plan to organize the National Creative Startup Day in Hai Phong in November 2024, which is expected to be attended by Vietnamese state leaders and many international friends.
Under the memorandum of understanding between the Daejeon Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (DCCEI) and the Vietnam Network of University and College Innovation and Entrepreneurship (VNEI), the two organizations will coordinate to carry out startup support activities such as planning and participating in official events, providing information on expanding business opportunities, supporting industry visits, and implementing joint projects to enhance the global capabilities of startups. Korea will support incubation programs at VNEI, and share experiences and transfer knowledge from DCCEI to Vietnamese startups.
Park Dae Hee, Chairman of DCCEI, expressed his expectations for the future of this partnership. He emphasized: “We are very excited about this partnership and believe that the signing of the MOU will create many new opportunities for both parties. The combination of our resources and expertise will contribute to the strong development of the startup ecosystem.”
Sharing the same opinion, Dr. Nguyen Trung Dung, Chairman of VNEI shared: “The signing of the MOU is an important step in strengthening the cooperative relationship between the two sides. We hope that this cooperation will bring many benefits to the startup community in Vietnam and Korea.”
