Vietnam hosts the 11th AP Conference

On the afternoon of November 13, in Hanoi, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society held a press conference to inform about the 11th International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for Asia and the Pacific (AP-11) with the theme "Asia-Pacific: Prepared for disasters".

With the approval of the Party Central Committee Secretariat and implementing the Prime Minister's opinion, from January 20 to 23, the Vietnam Red Cross Society hosted the 11th Asia-Pacific Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (AP-11).

The conference is held every four years and is an important event in the Asia-Pacific region, with the participation of all National Associations in the Asia-Pacific region and the Middle East - North Africa region, to discuss and evaluate the results of activities in the past time and orient the operational plan of the entire region in the coming time.

This is the second time the Vietnam Red Cross Society has had the honor of hosting a regional conference in the context of our country's increasingly enhanced position along with many humanitarian issues, especially regarding climate change, natural disasters and catastrophes.

The conference is an opportunity to promote the Association's development cooperation activities with international partners and organizations and enterprises in Vietnam, thereby affirming the commitment of the Vietnamese Government and the responsibility and actions of regional Red Cross/Red Crescent Societies in responding to climate change and disasters.

Regarding the Conference, Ms. Bui Thi Hoa, President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, affirmed that the Conference is an opportunity to introduce and promote the achievements, culture, country and people of Vietnam and a favorable occasion to learn from experiences, expand relationships, mobilize resources for the country's humanitarian and social security goals, and demonstrate responsibility for the humanitarian and global movement.

The AP-11 Conference was attended by about 450 national and international delegates. On November 20, the Asia-Pacific Red Cross-Red Crescent Youth Forum included 5 sessions with topics such as: Discussion on challenges, opportunities, skills, knowledge, practices and experiences; Skills and solutions for participating in intergenerational dialogue; The future of youth engagement - YES.2.0; Building knowledge on innovation and digitalization; Disaster preparedness.

From November 21-23 is the 11th Asia-Pacific Red Cross and Red Crescent Conference with 5 workshop sessions: Preparedness to respond to disasters; Preparedness to become sustainable National Societies; Preparedness to become trustworthy organizations; Preparedness to coordinate well - mutual support between National Societies; Preparedness to coordinate well - Serville 2.0.

Along with important agendas, delegates will participate in meaningful activities such as the 2023 Humanitarian Power Program at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam and the Quintessence of the North live art program.

The 2023 Humanitarian Power Program is an annual event of the Vietnam Red Cross Society to honor domestic and foreign partners who have contributed to humanitarian activities and the Red Cross movement in the past year, thereby spreading the spirit of the movement "Good people, good deeds - Joining hands to build a compassionate community", multiplying noble gestures and kind actions in the community; at the same time, mobilizing resources to care for people in special circumstances on the occasion of the Spring of Giap Thin 2024.

It is expected that the 2023 Humanitarian Power program will take place on the evening of November 22 at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam (Hanoi) and will be broadcast live on VTV , National Assembly Television ...

According to Ms. Bui Thi Hoa, the special point of this AP-11 Conference is that all activities must ensure "green" requirements, by increasing the use of digital technology and environmentally friendly products.
