VFF speaks out about Madam Pang paying for Xuan Son's injury treatment

(Dan Tri) - Madam Pang announced that she paid for Nguyen Xuan Son's hospital bills while he was receiving treatment for his injury in Thailand. VFF officially spoke out about this issue.

On the afternoon of January 10, speaking to the domestic media, VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu shared: "During the training and competition process of the teams participating in the AFF Cup 2024, in all cases of injury, the medical team of each team will first provide first aid on the spot.

Next comes the responsibility of the local organizing committee: stretchers, ambulances, emergency hospitals. This is the standard that the AFF Cup organizing committee sets for all local organizing committees, applied to all stadiums, not just in Thailand. This is a common process, part of the AFF Cup standards, which has been trained before the tournament."

"If an incident involving a player injury occurs at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho), VFF must also carry out these responsibilities similar to what the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) did with Xuan Son, related to Xuan Son's injury in the second leg of the final in Bangkok (Thailand)," VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu added.

Previously, media in Thailand reported that the president of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) Nualphan Lamsam (commonly known as Madam Pang) announced to pay the hospital fees for Nguyen Xuan Son, after this player was injured on the evening of January 5 at Rajamagala Stadium and received emergency treatment at a Bangkok hospital.

This afternoon, VFF officially spoke up about this information: "There is no such thing as Madam Pang paying for Xuan Son's treatment costs. I reiterate that the Organizing Committee of each stadium and each locality providing initial medical care for players injured during training and competition at the tournament is a general rule."

"From the time Xuan Son is discharged from the hospital in Bangkok and brought back to Vietnam for surgery and treatment, VFF, in conjunction with a number of domestic medical facilities, will cover all expenses for Xuan Son from now until Xuan Son fully recovers," VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu affirmed.

According to Mr. Phu, Viet Tri Stadium and VFF also encountered 4 cases of injuries of away team players at AFF Cup 2024, they also received first aid and initial medical care similar to what Xuan Son received in Thailand on the evening of January 5.

"This is a general regulation, a general standard, and should be applied to all locations and to all national football federations with representatives participating in the AFF Cup," Mr. Nguyen Van Phu emphasized.

In addition to VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu, Dan Tri reporter also talked with former Vice President (VP) of the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) Duong Vu Lam, who has a lot of experience as the head of the Organizing Committee of international tournaments across Southeast Asia in the past.

Mr. Lam clarified this issue: "The regulation that the local organizing committee of the National Football Federation takes care of and pays for emergency and first aid costs for players of visiting teams who suffer injuries during training and competition in the locality is a long-standing regulation in international tournaments."

"Therefore, when Xuan Son was injured in the second leg of the 2024 AFF Cup final at Rajamangala in Thailand, FAT was of course responsible for paying the hospital expenses in Thailand for Xuan Son. On the contrary, if a similar case happened to a Thai player or any player from any other team in Vietnam, VFF would pay these expenses.

This is the common standard of international tournaments. Madam Pang, as the president and account holder of FAT, of course has to sign these payments," former AFF Vice President Duong Vu Lam emphasized.
