VFF indefinitely bans 5 players for gambling

The Vietnam Football Federation disciplined five players of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Club who were prosecuted for gambling.

This morning (February 27), the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) issued a disciplinary decision against five players of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Football Club, including Tran Ky Anh (born 2004), Nguyen Son Hai (born 1994), Le Bang Gia Huy (born 2002), Nguyen Quang Huy (born 2004) and Pham Van Phong (born 2004).

These players are banned from playing in national football tournaments managed and organized by the Vietnam Football Federation. Tran Ky Anh, Nguyen Son Hai, Le Bang Gia Huy, Nguyen Quang Huy and Pham Van Phong had negative behavior in the match between Ba Ria Vung Tau Club and Da Nang on December 24, 2023 in the National First Division.

According to the investigation results, these 5 players discussed and agreed to play below their ability in the match between Ba Ria Vung Tau and Da Nang. The group of players then bet on Da Nang Club to win on a football betting site. Da Nang won 3-1 in this match.

Tran Ky Anh, Nguyen Son Hai, Le Bang Gia Huy, Nguyen Quang Huy and Pham Van Phong were prosecuted for gambling. After receiving this information, the Vietnam Football Federation and Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) immediately requested Ba Ria - Vung Tau Club to report and decide on a form of handling.

Currently, in national professional football tournaments, the prevention and fight against negativity is always a top priority. In addition to coordinating with agencies under C02, VPF also regularly exchanges information with functional departments of the Vietnam Football Federation, and cooperates with companies specializing in sports data analysis to prevent negative behaviors.
