Lam River lies between the two banks of Nghe Tinh, on the southern bank is the Hong Linh range running from Nghi Xuan to Can Loc. Hong Mountain reflects the Lam River. Lam River entwines with mountains and hamlets, beaches. Along the riverbank are villages, places marking cultural traditions such as: Tien Dien, Co Dam; the ancient trading port of Hoi Thong, the archaeological site of Bai Coi - Phoi Phoi. The charming mountains and rivers also invite visitors to visit the ancient relic site of Great Poet Nguyen Du, the modern and poetic Xuan Thanh beach tourist area.
Following the Hong mountain range is the North-South highway running through the ancient land of Viet Thuong, which is said to be the capital of King Kinh Duong Vuong. This place has a complex of historical relics and scenic spots that have been restored and invested in, always attracting tourists such as: Dai Hung Pagoda, Thien Tuong Pagoda, Hang Pagoda, Suoi Tien, the temple of the Imperial Censor Bui Cam Ho... The name "Bai Vot" has receded into the past with traces of a wild, dangerous area, instead, Hong Linh town located at the foot of Hong mountain today is glowing with youthful features.

The majestic mountains and rivers have given birth to many legends. And the legend of 99 phoenixes perched on 99 peaks of Hong Mountain, passed down through the mists of time, has become a sacred source. The legend of Princess Ba - daughter of King Trang Vuong of Chu country, who went to Hong Mountain to practice and attain enlightenment, becoming the Bodhisattva Quan Am with a hundred hands and a thousand eyes to save all living beings, worshiped at Huong Tich Pagoda in Thien Loc (Can Loc) has proven the sacredness of an entire land.
From the lowlands to the highlands, plains or cities, everywhere one can easily encounter historical vestiges, recording the patriotic, heroic and indomitable tradition of Ha Tinh people. These are Mai Hac De temple in Loc Ha; Le Khoi temple in Thach Ha; Son Phong Ham Nghi citadel in Huong Khe; Vu Quang base associated with the name of patriot Phan Dinh Phung; Tam Soa wharf and Quan Hoi hill - where the tomb of late General Secretary Tran Phu is located; Memorial area of late General Secretary Ha Huy Tap; Dong Loc T-junction...

The great poet Nguyen Du once exclaimed: “Lam Thuy, Hong Son Vo Han Thang!” (Lam River, Hong Mountain, the scenery is extremely beautiful!). This place is not only beautiful in its scenery but also beautiful in the stories of the people who created the spiritual energy of this land. And it was not easy for this cluster of mountains and rivers to be engraved by the Nguyen Dynasty on the Nine Tripod Cauldrons in Hue as a position of Hong Lam culture.

From the cool stream of the clans, many names have entered history such as: Nguyen Cong Tru, Bui Cam Ho who governed the country and saved the world; Le Huu Trac - a famous physician; Su Hy Nhan, Nguyen Nghiem, Phan Huy Ich who were proficient in history; Dang Dung, Nguyen Bieu, Phan Dinh Phung who sacrificed themselves to save the country; Nguyen Huy Oanh, Bui Duong Lich - excellent teachers and cultural researchers; Great poet Nguyen Du - world cultural celebrity... In the 20th century, many names shone brightly in the fields of politics, science, and art, such as: Tran Phu, Ha Huy Tap, Hoang Xuan Han, Le Van Thiem, Nguyen Khac Vien, Xuan Dieu, Huy Can, Nguyen Dong Chi, Vo Liem Son, Nguyen Phan Chanh...

1,800 historical and cultural relics and scenic spots, of which 617 are ranked, have demonstrated the creative talent and dedication to preservation of generations of Ha Tinh residents. Vi Giam folk songs, Ca Tru, Kieu plays, Sac Bua, Ho Cheo Can Cam Nhuong... have been passed down and developed strongly.
UNESCO has honored Ca Tru as an intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent protection; Nghe Tinh Vi Giam as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity; Phuc Giang School Woodblocks, Hoang Hoa Su Trinh Do, and Truong Luu Village Han Nom Documents of the Nguyen Huy family as world memory heritages of the Asia-Pacific region... These are creative products, preserved from the qualities and souls of Ha Tinh people.
The unique beauty, which can be considered the identity of Ha Tinh people, is the heroic quality that always blends with the poet's soul. That is Dang Dung in the 15th century, who assisted the king in defeating the enemy "several times sharpening the sword in the shadow of the setting moon"; Nguyen Du was both an envoy and a bright star on the poetry scene in the late 18th and early 19th centuries; Nguyen Cong Tru was both a land envoy and a poet, a lyricist for the Ca Tru genre; Phan Dinh Phung fought the enemy and wrote poetry... In the 20th century, many heroic sons and daughters faced enemy bombs and bullets but their souls were still optimistic and cheerful, fighting the enemy and writing poetry and singing, a typical example is the example of the 10 girls at Dong Loc Intersection. All of them have carved out a Ha Tinh, a land of learning, a land of poetry, a land of music, a heroic revolutionary Ha Tinh.
Ha Tinh city is increasingly modern and civilized.
Today, Ha Tinh people not only preserve but also promote the good qualities of studiousness, humanity, loyalty, diligence, and creativity. The families, villages, and clans with many generations of studiousness not only contribute greatly to the "national spirit" but also shape the qualities of Ha Tinh people, creating a cultural identity to pass on to future generations. In the era of technology 4.0, education in Ha Tinh has more favorable conditions to develop strongly. On the national educational achievement rankings, Ha Tinh is always in the top in terms of the percentage of excellent students at home and abroad, students with high scores in university entrance exams. The shining examples: Trinh Kim Chi, Phan Manh Tan, Le Nam Truong, Vo Anh Duc, Phan Nhat Duy, Phan Xuan Hanh... will continue to spread strongly.
Therefore, when talking about Ha Tinh, in addition to natural resources, people often mention another extremely valuable resource, which is cultural and human resources. Following in the footsteps of their ancestors, Ha Tinh people today are shining in all directions. According to survey data from 1945 to present, nearly 750 Ha Tinh people have been awarded the titles of professor and associate professor. Many leading scientists and experts from Ha Tinh have made great contributions to the country and the world.
