On the afternoon of April 17, at Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted, the Department of Education and Training held a workshop on directing and organizing training for teams participating in the national excellent student competition according to the 2018 generaleducation program.
Leaders of the Department of Education and Training, the Steering Committee for training excellent national students for the 2024-2025 school year, principals of high schools, representatives of the Department of Education and Training of districts, cities, towns, and principals of some secondary schools attended the workshop.

Over the past time, the Ha Tinh Education sector has always attached importance to the task of directing and organizing the discovery and training of excellent students, especially in the period of fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training.
After 3 years of implementing the 2018 general education program, for high school level, the results of teaching and education activities in general, and the training of excellent students in particular, have achieved outstanding achievements. In particular, the results of Ha Tinh's national and international excellent students have continuously increased in quantity and quality. That achievement has put Ha Tinh firmly in the top 10 provinces and cities with the number of students winning national excellent student awards and the top 8 provinces and cities with the largest number of students winning international Olympic awards in the country.

Since 2022, Ha Tinh has had students win gold and silver medals in international Olympiads. In the 2024-2025 school year, Tran Minh Hoang will continue to be one of the 6 members of the Vietnamese team participating in the International Mathematical Olympiad.
Besides those outstanding achievements, there are still some subjects with low or unstable national excellent student selection exam results. Only Math and Informatics have students participating in international and regional Olympic teams and winning medals.
Although some subjects have potential, their development is still difficult. The development of excellent students sometimes lacks sustainability. The coordination between educational institutions from primary, secondary and high schools is sometimes not smooth and effective.

Participating in the discussion at the workshop, delegates shared some experiences and good practices in organizing the training of excellent students such as: developing and creating sources of excellent national students and international excellent students; building plans and curriculum frameworks; encouraging or organizing students to participate in competitions via online platforms; opening training and fostering classes to improve skills and professional qualifications, creating conditions for teachers to exchange and learn from experiences from many schools across the country; promoting socialization to improve the effectiveness of training excellent students; coordination between schools, teachers and students' families...

Delegates also recommended that the Department of Education and Training advise the Provincial People's Committee to develop specific mechanisms and policies to support teachers and students participating in national and international competitions for excellent students; and to pay attention to investing in facilities to serve the training of excellent students...
