The two teams started the game slowly in the first minutes. However, the opportunity soon came to U22 Vietnam after a mistake by the Myanmar goalkeeper in the 5th minute. Inside, Ho Van Cuong controlled his teammate's pass, before unleashing a powerful shot from close range, giving the opposing goalkeeper no chance to block.
U22 Vietnam played overwhelmingly against Myanmar.
In the hot weather, U22 Vietnam still maintained the initiative and showed flexibility in the flank attacks. In the 33rd minute, Le Van Do had a good chance in the penalty area. Number 7's shot beat the goalkeeper but the ball hit the post.
Le Van Do was unlucky, but he still left his mark with an assist for Ho Van Cuong to score the second goal against Myanmar in the 35th minute.
In the second half, U22 Vietnam continued to play their signature style of fast-paced downfield play. In the 57th minute, Minh Trong escaped after a through ball from Nhat Nam, before returning the ball just in time for Van Khang to comfortably shoot into the Myanmar net, raising the score to 3-0.
In the remaining minutes, the match was quite leisurely for U22 Vietnam. Coach Troussier's team had 2 more chances but Quoc Viet and Van Khang could not take advantage.
On the other hand, Myanmar had to wait until the last minutes of the match to have a notable attack. After Zin Hein's free kick was blocked by Huy Hoang, Myo Khant brought home a goal to shorten the score to 1-3 for the red team after a flurry of play. The number 15's header hit a Vietnamese player and bounced into the net.
The match ended with the bronze medal for U22 Vietnam. Meanwhile, Myanmar lost in 2 out of 3 recent matches for the bronze medal.
In the match against Myanmar, coach Philippe Troussier let Doan Huy Hoang start instead of Quan Van Chuan. The captain of U22 Vietnam had an unsatisfactory performance in the semi-final match. He made a mistake that led to the second goal.
Khuat Van Khang and Nguyen Van Truong also returned to the starting lineup after being benched against Indonesia. Meanwhile, Le Van Do was the only player to start in every match of U22 Vietnam at this SEA Games.
