Ca Mau, Bac Lieu: Organizing many activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day

According to the Steering Committee for Major Holidays of Ca Mau province, organizing activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) is an opportunity to look back on the development of Ca Mau, while honoring the historical, cultural and sporting values ​​that have contributed to creating a new look for the province in the process of innovation and integration.

On this occasion, functional sectors and localities will renovate 159 historical relics, memorial steles, houses with names of heroic martyrs, and martyr cemeteries. Including: 53 relics; 05 cemeteries; 101 memorial steles, houses with names of heroic martyrs. In particular, renovate and restore the special national relic of Ben Vam Lung, part of the Ho Chi Minh trail at sea. In addition, organize repairs and renovations for houses of gratitude that were previously supported but degraded. Thereby, to show gratitude to those who contributed to the revolution, to commemorate the heroic martyrs who sacrificed for the cause of fighting, national liberation, and national reunification.

On this occasion, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism directed the Huong Tram Opera Troupe, the Provincial Cultural Center, and the Khmer Art Troupe to organize cultural, artistic and sports activities to create a joyful and exciting atmosphere for the people to celebrate the important event of the country. In particular, organizing mobile performances to serve the people in revolutionary bases, rural residential areas and localities with a large number of ethnic minorities, with the theme "The Great Victory of Spring 1975 - The strength of great national unity, the aspiration for peace, independence and the will to unify".

From April 19 to April 21, organize a sports festival with the following sports: table tennis, badminton, tennis, pickleball, at the Ca Mau Provincial Sports Complex; on April 27, organize a cycling race starting in front of the gate of the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Area (Ward 1, Ca Mau City) and finishing at U Minh town, U Minh district; on April 29, organize an open Ca Mau province composite tire race, at the Cai Tau river section, U Minh town, U Minh district.

Ca Mau province organized 06 delegations to visit historical witnesses, typical policy families, and people who contributed to the event of Southern Liberation Day and National Reunification Day in the province. Summarized the emulation movement "Striving to increase the gross domestic product (GRDP) of Ca Mau province by 2025 to 8% or more" (according to Resolution No. 25/NQ-CP) and summarized the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. Organized a ceremony to receive the Certificate of ranking as a special national historical relic of the Ho Chi Minh Trail at sea at the end point in Ca Mau province. From 14:00 to 19:30 on April 24, the ceremony of releasing flowers at sea; offering incense at the Memorial House; offering incense at the Monument and visiting the traditional house. From 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on April 24, the ceremony to receive the Certificate of National Special Monument ranking for Ben Vam Lung Relic (Hamlet 8, Rach Goc town, Ngoc Hien district) took place.

From April 25 to May 5, an exhibition of images, documents, and artifacts about the "Ho Chi Minh Campaign and the Great Victory of Spring 1975" and the province's socio-economic development achievements will be held at the Provincial Military Command Hall (Tran Van Thoi Street, Ward 6, Ca Mau City). At 6:45 a.m. on April 26, a ceremony will be held to pay respects and offer incense to President Ho Chi Minh at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site, the Temple of 10 Heroes and Martyrs of the Hon Khoai Uprising, and the Provincial Martyrs' Cemetery.

In addition, Ca Mau province organized a traditional meeting of former comrades who were Secretaries, Deputy Secretaries of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairmen of the Provincial People's Council; Members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Council, Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee through the periods; representatives of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers; Heroes of the People's Armed Forces; Historical witnesses - comrades who participated in the campaign to liberate Ca Mau province; representatives of leaders of provincial departments, branches, and mass organizations; representatives of leaders of District Party Committees, People's Councils, People's Committees of districts and Ca Mau city; and people of all walks of life in the province.

At the end of April 2025, coordinate with Bac Lieu province to organize the technical opening ceremony of Ganh Hao Bridge (connecting Dam Doi district, Ca Mau province and Dong Hai district, Bac Lieu province); organize a ceremony to honor outstanding literary and artistic works 50 years after the country's reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and award the prize for the "Common Vietnamese Foundation" Literary and Artistic Works Creation Contest; start the project to expand and upgrade Ca Mau Airport.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and International Labor Day, May 1, the People's Committee of Bac Lieu province has also issued a Plan to organize celebration activities.

Accordingly, the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification and International Labor Day will take place at 9:30 a.m. on April 25. The art program to celebrate the 50th anniversary and associated with the 50th anniversary of Vietnamese literature and art (8:00 p.m. on April 26) will be broadcast live on Bac Lieu Radio and Television.

Ceremony to visit the provincial martyrs' cemetery; Uncle Ho's temple in Chau Thoi commune, Vinh Loi district (April 25); memorial to heroic martyrs; Mau Than monument; ceremony to receive the certificate of ranking Vinh Hung special national archaeological relic (expected on April 26); inauguration ceremony of the project to display interior of Bac Lieu Provincial Museum (April 26); exhibition of documentary images of the historic victory on April 30 and art photos of the province's socio-economic achievements (from April 20 to May 5); visit historical witnesses participating in the Liberation of Bac Lieu on April 30, 1975, etc.

Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thieu said that the organization of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification Day and International Labor Day aims to review the heroic historical stages of our nation associated with the glorious feats of arms of our army and people in the resistance war against the US to save the country under the correct and wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh. In particular, it affirms the great stature and historical significance of the nation's miraculous resistance war. This is also an opportunity to honor and pay tribute to the heroes, martyrs, heroic Vietnamese mothers, wounded and sick soldiers, and compatriots who sacrificed and devoted their blood and bones to create the Great Victory of Spring 1975.
