On the afternoon of April 17, the Steering Committee for arranging commune-level administrative units and organizing local governments at two levels held a meeting to deploy a number of important tasks in the coming time. Comrade Nguyen Duy Lam - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Steering Committee chaired the meeting.

Attending the event were comrade Tran The Dung - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee; comrade Vo Trong Hai - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee; comrades of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, members of the Steering Committee; leaders of relevant localities and units.

At the meeting, the leaders of the Ha Tinh Department of Home Affairs reported on the work plan of the Steering Committee for the arrangement of commune-level administrative units and the organization of two-level local governments; reported on the assignment of tasks to members of the Steering Committee; and reported on the draft plan for the arrangement of commune-level administrative units. Accordingly, Ha Tinh will arrange 209 commune-level administrative units based on principles and criteria, closely following the central government's orientation and guidance and local practices. After the arrangement, the potential, advantages, space, and cultural characteristics of commune-level administrative units will be best promoted, ensuring that local authorities at the commune level effectively manage the area, grasp the situation, stay close to the people, and best serve the people.

Discussing at the meeting, delegates analyzed and clarified criteria related to population, area, geographical conditions, regional connectivity, some specific factors, etc., thereby proposing to develop a plan to arrange commune-level administrative units according to Central regulations and in accordance with the actual situation of the locality in order to promote potential, advantages, cultural characteristics, and space to create development space for commune-level administrative units after the arrangement.

Concluding the meeting, Comrade Nguyen Duy Lam - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the Provincial People's Committee, departments, branches and localities in proactively and promptly researching and preparing plans to reorganize commune-level administrative units. The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee emphasized that the reorganization of commune-level administrative units and the organization of two-level local governments is a major policy, having a profound impact on the apparatus organization and political and social life, while the progress needs to be implemented quickly.

The Provincial Party Secretary assigned the Provincial People's Committee, departments, branches and localities to promptly update the orientations, planning and plans of the central government and the province; absorb the opinions expressed at the meeting, continue to perfect the plan to ensure the requirements of content and time. The implementation process needs to pay special attention to propaganda and mobilization work to create consensus among cadres, party members and people.
