This match was not in the original plan of U17 Vietnam during the training trip in Qatar. During this training trip, U17 Vietnam met the U17 Laos team who also chose Qatar as the training location for the U17 Asian Cup 2023 when the host country arranged for the two teams to practice on the same training ground.
The coaching staff of the two teams quickly connected with each other and agreed to organize a practice match to help the players have more opportunities to compete. During the 90 minutes of the friendly match, U17 Vietnam showed good ball control and attack launching ability. However, the attacks only stopped at the level of creating opportunities but could not finish the goal. Because the team had just gone through a period of intensive training in the country, coach Hoang Anh Tuan did not set high requirements for his players in this unexpected friendly match. He only reminded the players to play with focus, relax mentally and show respect for the other team even though this was just a practice match. 
On the other side of the front line, U17 Laos clearly showed progress and affirmed that winning a ticket to the 2023 U17 Asian Cup finals is completely worthy. Many times, the young players of the land of a million elephants created storms in front of the U17 Vietnam goal with sharp counterattacks. Neither team scored after two halves, so the practice match ended with a score of 0-0. According to the plan, U17 Vietnam will play a friendly match with U17 Qatar tomorrow (May 21) at 6:30 p.m. (10:30 p.m. Vietnam time) at the Aspire Academy Stadium, Qatar. The 2023 U17 Asian Cup finals will take place in Thailand from June 15 to July 2. U17 Vietnam will face U17 Japan, Uzbekistan and India in Group D.
