Nguyen Filip did not join the army in March, why?
Goalkeeper Nguyen Filip has asked permission to temporarily withdraw from the Vietnam national team during the March training session due to family reasons. It is known that because a relative of Nguyen Filip is seriously ill, the goalkeeper has planned to return home.
After receiving the information, coach Kim Sang-sik decided to call up goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien from U.22 Vietnam to replace him. Trung Kien was born in 2003, is 1.91 m tall, is one of the promising young faces and is also one of the three goalkeepers of the Vietnam team that won the AFF Cup 2024.

Thus, the three goalkeepers of the Vietnamese team in this training session are Dinh Trieu, Van Viet and Trung Kien. Goalkeeper coach Lee Woon-jae has also returned to support the promising goalkeepers that the Vietnamese team currently possesses.
Calling up Trung Kien not only helps the team maintain its depth but also creates opportunities for the young goalkeeper to gain experience while working with his seniors. Trung Kien, Thai Son, Vi Hao, Ly Duc, and Van Khang are the five U.22 players currently playing for the Vietnam national team.
Currently, the Vietnamese team is actively preparing for the friendly match with the Cambodian team and the match against the Lao team in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. This adjustment will not affect the team's overall plan.
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) sends best wishes to Nguyen Filip's family and looks forward to his return with the Vietnam national team in the next training sessions.
