From college to university is a change towards depth

Speaking at the 30th anniversary of Duy Tan University, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son hoped that the change from a university to a university would not be a change of name, but rather a change towards depth, towards liberating creativity, towards modern and intelligent management.

On the morning of November 10, Duy Tan University held a ceremony to celebrate its 30th anniversary (November 11, 1994 - November 11, 2024) and announced the Prime Minister's decision to convert Duy Tan University into Duy Tan University.

From college to university is a choice of organizational and administrative model.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that in 1994, implementing the Party and State's policy of education and training innovation, the Prime Minister signed a decision to establish Duy Tan University, one of the first five non-public universities in the country in the new era. Having overcome many difficulties and challenges, Duy Tan University has developed continuously, making many contributions to human resource training for Da Nang City, the Central Highlands and the whole country.

Minister Nguyen Kim Son emphasized that the establishment and development of Duy Tan University has contributed to changing the public-private structure in the university system, changing the face of university education, creating many jobs for scientists and learning opportunities for many students, contributing to the cause of education and training innovation; providing human resources for the country's development over the past 30 years. From Duy Tan University to Duy Tan University is a choice of organizational and administrative model, and also a development model demonstrating maturity and the need for new development from within.

"I hope that this change is not a change of name but a change towards depth, towards liberating creativity, towards modern and intelligent management. I hope that the University will be operated with a more scientific, more advanced, larger-scale university management apparatus, with a higher mission, a broader and longer-term vision, towards sustainable development. The change from the organizational model of a university to the organizational model of a university needs to create new motivations and new energies, liberating creativity and creating new energies to create faster and stronger university development in the future. The Government and the Ministry of Education and Training support the choice of this development model by supporting the procedures to convert Duy Tan University into Duy Tan University", Minister Nguyen Kim Son affirmed.

"On the part of the Ministry of Education and Training, with the responsibility of state management, we will always care, support and supervise Duy Tan University. Through supervision and inspection activities, we will support Duy Tan University to continue and continuously grow," Minister Nguyen Kim Son emphasized.

Focus on presenting projects and initiatives of practical value

Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, said that when the school turns 30, Da Nang City is also focusing on implementing Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 on the organization of urban government and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang. This is one of the extremely important orientations for the city's socio-economic development in the coming time.

Mr. Le Trung Chinh acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements of Duy Tan University during its 30-year journey of construction and development.

"The city always identifies human resource development, especially high-quality human resources, as one of the key factors to build Da Nang into an ecological, modern, smart, international city with its own identity. That means that human resource training, especially high-quality human resources in general and Duy Tan University in particular, needs to be well prepared to further improve the quality of training, meeting the increasingly high demands of the economy and social development," Mr. Le Trung Chinh emphasized.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City requested Duy Tan University in particular and higher education and vocational education institutions in Da Nang City to pay more attention to scientific research, to propose projects and initiatives of practical value; to accompany Da Nang City in new pioneering fields, contributing to making Da Nang a livable, civilized and modern city.

"Da Nang City always accompanies and creates conditions for Duy Tan University to develop strongly, making worthy contributions to the construction and development of the city," said Mr. Le Trung Chinh.

In October 2024, the Government issued Decision No. 1115/QD-TTg dated October 7, 2024 to convert Duy Tan University into Duy Tan University, one of 8 universities in Vietnam, and also the first and only non-public university education institution, up to now in Vietnam, to be converted into a university model.

Duy Tan University currently has 7 member schools and 2 research institutes, with 8 training facilities in the center of Da Nang City. The staff consists of 1,526 people, including 1,079 lecturers.
