Proud of tradition, continue to write achievements

Throughout the process of building, fighting and growing, our army has always upheld the spirit of revolutionary vigilance, resolutely and persistently fought to firmly protect the sacred sovereignty of the territory, sea and islands of the Fatherland; continued to add to the glorious tradition, worthy of the noble title "Uncle Ho's Soldiers" that the people have praised, worthy of being the heroic army of the heroic Vietnamese nation.

Glorious history

80 years ago, implementing the policy of the Party Central Committee and the Directive of Leader Ho Chi Minh, on December 22, 1944, in Tran Hung Dao forest (Tam Kim commune, Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province), The Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army was established. Immediately after its establishment, the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army was intelligent and brave in achieving victories in the two battles of Phai Khat and Na Ngan, opening the tradition of determination to fight and win of the Vietnam People's Army, together with the people of the whole country, rising up to destroy the colonial rule, winning the historic August Revolution of 1945, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

During the resistance wars against colonialism and imperialism, despite many sacrifices and hardships, generations of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" were always united and brave, together with the entire Party and people, to establish glorious feats, defeating wars of aggression one after another, culminating in the historic victory of Dien Bien Phu "resounding throughout the five continents, shaking the world" in 1954 and the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign in the spring of 1975 to gain independence, peace and national unification.

During the period of national construction and defense, our army and the people continued to win victories in the fight to protect the northern and southwestern borders. At the same time, regardless of hardships and sacrifices, we helped the Cambodian people defeat the Pol Pot genocidal regime and fulfill our international obligations. Thereby, we continued to add to the glorious tradition, worthy of President Ho Chi Minh's praise: "...every task was completed, every difficulty was overcome, and every enemy was defeated."

Along with the strong development of the People's Army, to meet the requirements of revolutionary tasks, in Quang Ninh, semi-armed and armed organizations, "Red Self-Defense" and "Workers' Self-Defense" teams were quickly formed; resistance bases and Tran Hung Dao resistance base were established... as the core to build revolutionary bases, unite to fight the French, expel the Japanese, advance to revolt and seize power, contributing to the success of the August Revolution.

In 1946, implementing the policy of the Party Central Committee and the Government's Decision, the Quang Hong Inter-Provincial Militia and Hai Ninh Provincial Militia (the predecessor of today's Provincial Military Command) were established. Under the direct leadership and management of the local Party Committee and government, the provincial armed forces both consolidated and built their forces and fought, together with the people of all ethnic groups in the province, in nearly 3,500 battles, achieving many important feats.

After merging Hong Quang area with Hai Ninh province into Quang Ninh province, Quang Ninh Provincial Team under Military Region 3 was established. The provincial armed forces and the people of all ethnic groups raised their vigilance, smashed the plot to seize power of reactionary forces; coordinated with other forces to fight in nearly 2,400 battles, contributing to smashing the plot to sabotage the North of the US invaders, firmly protecting the socialist North. With the spirit of "Not a pound of rice is missing, not a soldier is missing", tens of thousands of outstanding children of Quang Ninh enthusiastically went to fight to liberate the South and unify the country.

Building an elite, modern military

In the new revolutionary period, especially after nearly 40 years of renovation, more than 10 years of implementing the Platform for national construction in the transitional period to socialism, under the leadership and direction of the Central Government, Quang Ninh has constantly paid attention to building and enhancing the overall strength of the provincial armed forces in the direction of revolution, discipline, elite, and gradual modernization; building a strong and widespread militia and self-defense force; and a strong reserve force. Focusing on building a politically strong provincial armed force, improving the quality of training and combat readiness; performing well the functions of a working army, a production labor army, continuing to affirm the intelligence, capacity, and qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers " of the provincial armed forces' cadres and soldiers in the new period.

Regiment 244 (Provincial Military Command) organized a combat shooting test at the infantry squad level for the Infantry Battalion in 2024.

Quang Ninh completed the 2021-2025 exercise project at all levels 2 years in advance; organized well the defense zone and civil defense exercises, which were highly appreciated by the leaders of the Ministry of National Defense and the Military Region Command. At the same time, invested in building components and positions of defense zones, especially in building combat bases, logistics - technical bases, and permanent militia combat posts. Implemented the project to build a permanent militia squadron, the headquarters of the Commune-level Military Command (done first to gain experience in the Military Region); was the leading province in the Military Region to complete the establishment and operation of 177/177 commune-level military cells.

The provincial armed forces have always been the vanguard in local revolutionary movements, actively participating in building new rural areas and civilized urban areas, implementing social policies and military rear policies, building political bases, developing the economy; being the core and pioneering force in preventing natural disasters, epidemics, searching and rescuing; being a trusted political force of Party committees at all levels in building a solid people's hearts and minds position.

With outstanding achievements in fighting against the war of aggression, in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, building the national defense and in the cause of innovation, the Quang Ninh Armed Forces were honored to be awarded the noble title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" by the Party and the State twice in 1979 and 2015; the Ho Chi Minh Medal (December 1984) and many other orders and medals. From 2012 to present, the provincial Armed Forces have continuously been the leading unit in the Emulation movement to win the emulation bloc of the armed forces of 9 provinces and cities under Military Region 3. Many collectives and individuals have been awarded flags, orders and medals of all kinds by all levels and sectors... Generations of cadres and soldiers of the provincial Armed Forces have built a glorious tradition: "Solidarity, creativity, indomitability, steadfastness, victory".
