Super Typhoon Doksuri is expected to sweep across the northern Philippines on Tuesday (July 25), the Philippine weather agency said, ordering evacuations for coastal communities expected to bear the brunt of the powerful storm.

Super Typhoon Doksuri had maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h as it headed toward a group of three sparsely populated islands off the northern tip of the main island of Luzon, the agency said.
The agency said in its latest bulletin that the typhoon, dubbed "Egay" in the Philippines, will make landfall or pass very close to the Babuyan Islands or Cagayan province on Wednesday afternoon. It will then move toward southeastern China.
China has also urged fishing boats to seek shelter and farmers to speed up harvesting as super typhoon Doksuri approaches East Asia, potentially making landfall in mainland China.

Currently packing maximum winds of 223 km/h, Doksuri is set to make landfall in mainland China between Fujian and Guangdong provinces on Friday (July 28), the China National Meteorological Center said on Tuesday.
Fujian province has ordered all offshore fishing vessels to seek shelter by noon on Wednesday, and told farmers to harvest rice and other crops that have ripened.
China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs warned on Monday that Typhoon Doksuri could move further inland after making landfall, affecting tall crops such as corn and even rice in rural areas.
