Over the past two weekends, Shulan City, Jilin Province, China recorded 14 deaths in floods caused by Typhoon Doksuri.
According to Chinese media, water levels in rivers in Shulan city continue to rise, exceeding safety levels, so local emergency agencies are working to evacuate residents and repair infrastructure damaged by the storm.
Typhoon Doksuri made landfall in Fujian Province, southern China, two weeks ago. Chinese authorities have yet to fully assess the damage caused by the storm as many areas continue to suffer from heavy rain and flash floods.

Over the past week, Beijing and Hebei Province have reported more than 20 deaths due to flooding. Power has been restored in many storm-hit areas of Beijing and Hebei.
* In Japan, Typhoon Khanun is expected to approach the Kyushu island area this week, bringing heavy rain and strong winds. The Japan Meteorological Agency on August 7 warned of the risk of landslides and flash floods in the affected areas.
After moving slowly around the Okinawa Islands, Typhoon Khanun has moved eastward. Accordingly, Amami-Oshima Island in Kagoshima Prefecture is in the path of the storm. Due to the impact of the storm, the Amami area and Kyushu Island will experience heavy rain, with rainfall up to 300mm by the morning of August 8.
The Japan Meteorological Agency forecasts that typhoon Khanun will turn north, expected to approach Kyushu Island on August 8, causing heavy and very heavy rain in eastern and western Japan.
At 11:00 a.m. on August 7, the storm was moving northeast toward the east of Amami-Oshima Island with winds of up to 144 km/h.
