On September 8, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said that the country launched a new tactical nuclear attack submarine on September 6.
The submarine is capable of carrying out underwater nuclear attacks. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un attended the submarine's launch ceremony and announced plans to build nuclear-powered submarines.
According to KCNA, the submarine launching ceremony signals the beginning of a new chapter in strengthening the DPRK's naval forces; further clarifying the steadfast will of the Workers' Party of Korea and the government of this country to further strengthen the nuclear deterrence capability both in quality and quantity...
