(Fatherland) - On the morning of February 4, at Tra Que Vegetable Village (Cam Ha Commune, Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province), the leaders of Hoi An City People's Committee awarded the "Best Tourist Village 2024" logo of the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) to the representative of Tra Que Vegetable Village.
Hoi An City leaders said that the locality will continue to organize activities to inform and introduce Tra Que Vegetable Village - The Best Tourist Village of 2024 from the United Nations Tourism Organization to local people and tourists. At the same time, promote the value and influence of an award belonging to the community; create motivation for the community and villagers to continue to preserve and promote indigenous cultural values, improve livelihoods, and enhance social life in the locality.
Previously, in mid-November 2024, Tra Que vegetable village was honored by UN Tourism as the Best Tourist Village of 2024. This is a recognition of efforts in preserving indigenous cultural values, religious activities, traditional crafts, lifestyles, long-standing lifestyles, creativity and focus on developing sustainable, community-based tourism and service types, demonstrating the kindness and hospitality of local people.
Also on the morning of February 4 (the 7th day of the Lunar New Year 2025), the Cau Bong festival took place in Tra Que vegetable village. This is a festival held annually by the people of the 400-year-old clean vegetable village in the Central region on the 7th day of the first lunar month. The festival is an opportunity for the people here to express their respect and gratitude to heaven and earth, the gods, the ancestors who founded the village and pray for a new year of favorable weather, prosperity, and bountiful harvests.
This year's Cau Bong Festival features traditional rituals such as the ritual of worshiping the gods; organizing offerings and worshiping the God of Agriculture... along with many activities honoring the Tra Que vegetable growing profession. The opening ceremony is the contest of hoeing the land to grow mustard greens; followed by the culinary contest, cooking traditional dishes, specialties of the vegetable village such as Tam Huu, Banh Xeo, Cao Lau...; the folk game festival of Bai Choi; the performance of Lan - Su - Rong... attracting many people and tourists to participate.
According to the leaders of Hoi An City, Cau Bong Festival in particular and Tra Que Vegetable Village in general are a beautiful "picture" of agricultural life and the clear spirit of farmers in Hoi An. In the context of increasingly fierce competition between tourist destinations, Tra Que people have known how to promote their inherent qualities combined with creativity and flexibility according to the trend of the times to create many attractive tourism products, attracting more and more domestic and international tourists to visit and experience.
