The Northeast is a mountainous region of our country with diverse terrain and climate, dense river systems, overlapping mountains, many valleys, favorable for the development of rich and abundant vegetation. Based on these natural conditions, people have taken advantage of, exploited, created and developed dishes with rich identity.
Coming to the northernmost lands of the Fatherland, diners cannot ignore the cuisine here, the wonderful crystallization of the quintessence of heaven and earth and the endless creativity of humans.
Tourists enjoy traditional Lang Son rice trays
In the culinary exhibition booths of the Festival, the trays of food are filled with traditional dishes of Lang Son such as roast duck, roast pork, braised pork, five-color sticky rice, etc., attracting tourists.
Ms. Nguyet Nga, a native of Lang Son, a contestant in the tour guide skills competition, shared: In the Tay people's meals in Bac Son, Lang Son, there are always black sticky rice cakes, purple sticky rice, roast pork, roast duck... These are basic dishes that are often found in the Tay people's meals, whether it is a daily meal or a holiday or a worshiping meal.
Northeastern products attract tourists
At the event, Lang Son brought to the Festival a uniquely prepared dish, smoked pork belly. The Tay people in Bac Son live in stilt houses, and every day, they use wood stoves to warm and cook. After butchering a pig, they do not wash it but instead use coarse salt to marinate the meat and then hang it over the stove. The heat of the stove and the smoke will create a delicious flavor, appealing to the taste and smell of this dish.
Besides, there are also many traditional dishes such as five-color sticky rice, banh te, banh bo, grass jelly... or famous mountain fruits such as Mau Son peach, Bao Lam persimmon, Chi Lang custard apple, chestnut, black canarium,... also processed and sold right at the Festival's booths./.
