On January 10, the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City held a conference to summarize 2023 and deploy tasks and work programs for 2024. Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Duong Anh Duc attended.

Ms. Vo Thi Trung Trinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Communications, said that last year, the department advised the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on many activities and achieved encouraging results. Specifically, the city is the only unit in the country to be unanimously selected by the ASOCIO Awards Council and awarded the ASOCIO 2023 Award for the category of Excellent Digital Government in 2023 held in Korea. The city's Digital Transformation (DTI) assessment results are continuously in the Top 5 provinces and cities with high rankings: 5th in 2020, 3rd in 2021 and 2nd in 2022; in terms of the Public Service Portal assessment, Ho Chi Minh City ranked 4th nationwide.

Other activities such as implementing the City Data Strategy, the City Enforcement Management System on a digital platform, initially contributing to changing the direction and operation method from traditional to modern of the city government, completing the City Administrative Procedure Information System to focus on ensuring 100% online public services for eligible administrative procedures... are also outstanding results in recent times.

In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City has identified the theme of the year as: "Determination to effectively implement digital transformation and Resolution No. 98/2023 of the National Assembly". The Department of Information and Communications has identified key tasks focusing on implementing the Digital Transformation Project and building the city into a smart city. In particular, regarding digital government, it will continue to promote the effectiveness of the Ho Chi Minh City Administrative Procedure Information System; digital signatures will be integrated into the system so that people and businesses can directly sign electronic forms, which have legal value to facilitate people and businesses when performing online public services; regarding digital economy and digital society, it will encourage digital technology enterprises to develop, creating motivation for businesses in economic sectors to carry out digital transformation, develop new production and business models based on digital technology platforms...

This is the responsibility and role of the city's information and communications sector to contribute to the city's development, so the Department of Information and Communications needs to quickly and effectively implement the proposed contents, such as the smart city project and digital transformation.

“We are in phase 2 of the 2025 milestone on press planning, the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City needs to advise and propose to build a reasonable press system, creating an effective and transparent press environment. To complete this, the department must apply technology, so in propaganda management, it is necessary to apply effective technology,” emphasized Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Duong Anh Duc.
