7 hospitals provide specialized support to Thu Duc Regional General Hospital

On April 11, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that it had requested 7 hospitals in the central region to sign a contract to support the specialized development of Thu Duc Regional General Hospital in the period from 2025 to 2030, aiming to orient the hospital to become a complete grade 1 general hospital specializing in trauma emergency, endovascular intervention and soon become one of the key hospitals in the Thu Duc Regional Specialized Medical Cluster.

The new, spacious, modern, international-standard facility of Thu Duc Regional General Hospital will become a specialized general hospital belonging to Thu Duc Medical Cluster.

Accordingly, 7 general and specialized hospitals supporting Thu Duc Regional General Hospital include: Gia Dinh People's Hospital, Binh Dan Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City Heart Institute, Eye Hospital, Children's Hospital 2, Oncology Hospital and Central Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology officially signed a cooperation agreement to support the transfer of specialized techniques to Thu Duc Regional General Hospital.

According to the planning of the Ho Chi Minh City health sector, Thu Duc Regional General Hospital, along with Oncology Hospital 2, Thu Duc City Hospital, Le Van Thinh Hospital, Le Van Viet Hospital, Eastern Military Hospital, Hoan My Thu Duc General Hospital, American International Hospital and many new general and specialized hospitals continue to be invested in and developed to form the Thu Duc Specialized Medical Cluster.

According to Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, to consolidate and promote the development of resources and complete the specialties of a general hospital with full specialties, the hospital needs to focus on developing key specialties such as: emergency, resuscitation, internal medicine, pediatrics, diagnostic imaging, testing, pathology, etc.

In addition, strongly develop the specialties of trauma emergency (neurology, chest, abdomen, maxillofacial...) and general surgery (including cancer surgery and chemotherapy, palliative care), thoracic surgery, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic trauma surgery, obstetrics and gynecology surgery...

At the same time, synchronously develop the remaining specialties to meet the diverse needs in medical examination and treatment and emergency care of a general hospital, noting that priority should be given to developing individual specialties (eye, maxillofacial, ear, nose and throat) and rehabilitation specialties.

“With a new, spacious facility, invested with advanced equipment that meets international standards, Thu Duc Regional General Hospital will develop to be worthy of being a grade 1 regional general hospital, developing comprehensively with specialized spearheads to meet disease models, contributing to improving the quality of health care for people in the northeastern gateway area of the city, the southeastern region and will certainly contribute to reducing the load on hospitals in the city's central cluster", Associate Professor, Dr. Tang Chi Thuong emphasized.
