Ho Chi Minh City: New appearance and stature after 50 years of construction and development

Proud achievements

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi, member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee emphasized the proud achievements over 50 years of building, protecting and developing the city.

Accordingly, since April 30, 1975, Ho Chi Minh City has continuously strived to overcome difficulties to stabilize and develop, becoming a major center of economics, finance, trade, culture, science - technology, innovation, education - training of the Southern key economic region and the whole country, an important gateway connecting with the region and the world.

The results that the city has achieved today are thanks to the timely and consistent leadership and direction of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the National Assembly, the Government, and the wholehearted and effective support of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, ministries, departments, branches and central organizations.

At the same time, this is also the crystallization of the efforts of leaders, cadres and soldiers of all periods and the companionship, support and joint efforts of all classes of the City's people over the past time to have Ho Chi Minh City today - a city with a new look, new vitality, new stature, a civilized, modern and affectionate city.

Mr. Nghi hopes that this important workshop will have many dedicated and practical contributions, enriching the mettle, knowledge and practical capacity in the leadership and direction of the Party Committee and the management and operation of the City government; strengthening the strength of the entire political system, closely attached to the People, relying on the People to build, protect and develop a civilized, modern, and affectionate Ho Chi Minh City, always worthy of being the City named after beloved Uncle Ho - the Heroic City.

Worthy of the trust and expectations of the whole country

At the workshop, delegates raised many opinions and discussions focusing on promoting the value, historical significance and valuable lessons of the Great Victory of Spring 1975 in the cause of building and developing a civilized, modern and affectionate Ho Chi Minh City with the motto "Ho Chi Minh City for the whole country, the whole country for Ho Chi Minh City".

Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Nghi delivered the opening speech at the Workshop.

Some presentations also highlighted the city's achievements in innovation and development over the past 50 years (1975 - 2025) in various fields; continuing to maintain its role as a major center of economics, culture, education - training, science - technology, with an important political position in the country, having the power to spread and promote the development of the Southeast region and the Southern key economic region; soon becoming an economic, financial, service, cultural, education - training, science - technology and innovation center of Southeast Asia and Asia, with global competitiveness.

In particular, the City Party Committee has continuously built a united, exemplary, clean and strong Party Committee and political system; built a contingent of cadres with strong political will, pure moral qualities, high qualifications, dynamism, creativity, daring to think and act for the common good; promoted democracy, social consensus, self-reliance, self-improvement, resilient revolutionary tradition, solidarity and affection of the locality...

In addition, many delegates pointed out some shortcomings and limitations in various fields; causes that need to be overcome; practical experiences that need to be drawn and proposed breakthrough tasks and problems that need to be implemented in the coming time.

At the same time, it proposed solutions to mobilize the combined strength, effectively exploit the potentials, advantages, and strategic positions, and arouse pride in the revolutionary, heroic, pioneering, innovative, dynamic, and creative traditions of cadres, party members, union members, association members, and all classes of people in the city. Thereby, contributing to building Ho Chi Minh City worthy of the trust and expectations of the people, compatriots at home and abroad, and international friends.

This workshop received more than 100 presentations and many comments from leaders and former leaders of central agencies, provinces and cities; revolutionary veterans; city leaders of different periods; districts, departments, branches, sectors, city organizations, scientists and researchers.

The Organizing Committee of the Conference said that it will continue to select and edit the papers and speeches to publish them into a book as soon as possible.
