Candidates no longer have to move to many rooms in the 2025 high school graduation exam

(PLVN) - In the 2025 high school graduation exam, candidates will be arranged in a single exam room during the exam sessions, without having to move around. Candidates taking the exam under the 2006 General Education Program will also be arranged a separate exam location.

This information was given at the conference on implementing the work of enrolling students at the beginning of the school year, organizing the high school graduation exam and evaluating the implementation of Circular No. 29/2024 organized by the Ministry of Education and Training on March 28. At the conference, Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management Nguyen Ngoc Ha informed and noted some new points surrounding the 2025 High School Graduation Exam.

Candidates do not have to move between multiple exam rooms.

Regarding the organization of high school graduation exams, one of the issues that localities are worried about and question is the process of arranging exam rooms.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management said that the 2025 high school graduation exam will only be held in 3 sessions and the third session will test both elective subjects. To facilitate the organization, candidates will be arranged in a single exam room during the exam sessions, without having to move around.

In addition, the collection of papers will be done by room without having to classify by subject. Keeping 24 candidates/exam room, 1 exam room can arrange up to 5 subjects. To ensure security, instead of only having 24 exam codes for 24 students in 1 exam room as before, this year's exam increased the number of exam codes to 48 for 2 time frames of the 3rd exam session.

There are separate exam sites for students taking the 2006 Program.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, regarding the issue of organizing exams for students according to the 2006 General Education Program (students who have not graduated, or take the exam to get university admission scores), to avoid mistakes, it is necessary to arrange some separate exam sites for students taking the exam according to the 2006 Program.

"Currently, many localities have organized mock high school graduation exams. The organization needs to try to be similar to the organization of the official exam, from the format structure and level of the exam, exam time, exam room arrangement... The Ministry of Education and Training will support the exam marking software, send staff and experts to provide technical support, answer questions about the marking process to ensure compliance with the regulations of the Exam Regulations," Mr. Ha informed.

Emphasizing the need to develop a response scenario for unusual situations, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha summarized a number of situations that have occurred to prepare a scenario if encountered, including: Errors in printing exam papers that were only discovered when the exam papers were opened; students and teachers writing the wrong information on the multiple-choice answer sheet and exam paper; unusually bad weather affecting travel and ensuring security and safety at the exam site; traffic jams; power outages in the exam area; ensuring uninterrupted communication.

The high school graduation exam at the thinking level is 40% knowledge level, 30% understanding level and 30% application level.

Regarding the exam questions, the representative of the Ministry of Education and Training said that the exam content closely follows the content of the current General Education Program for high school level, mainly the 12th grade program. The thinking level is 40% knowledge level, 30% understanding level and 30% application level. Strengthening the connection and application of knowledge and skills with reality and practice, especially with differentiated content to accurately assess students' abilities.

With these new points, teachers need to strengthen guidance for students to read and study on their own. Self-control and self-study are also among the three important general competencies mentioned in the 2018 General Education Program.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha also emphasized an important new point related to high school graduation. Accordingly, the graduation score is only 50% of the high school graduation exam score, the remaining 50% is calculated from the 3-year high school study process.

This change is in line with the 2018 General Education Program with a focus on developing learners' abilities and qualities, and many of students' abilities and qualities are developed during the learning process.
