"The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has submitted a document to the City People's Committee requesting permission to change the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday schedule to be suitable and ensure enough time to implement the school year plan."

On the evening of December 5, Mr. Ho Tan Minh, chief of office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said the above.

According to Mr. Minh, "the Lunar New Year holiday schedule currently specified in the 2024-2025 school year schedule is tentative. By the end of 2024, at the end of the first semester, based on the actual study plan, the department and schools will calculate to have a more specific and realistic Lunar New Year holiday schedule."

Mr. Minh said, "After evaluating the implementation of the plan of schools in the area, the department submitted a document to the City People's Committee requesting permission to change the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday schedule."

It is known that the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday schedule is stipulated in the 2024-2025 school year schedule issued by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee: Students from preschool, primary to secondary and high school in Ho Chi Minh City will have the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday starting from January 25, 2025 (ie December 26th of the lunar calendar) to February 2, 2025 (ie January 5th of the lunar calendar). Thus, students in Ho Chi Minh City will have a total of 9 days off.

Meanwhile, in previous years, students of all levels in Ho Chi Minh City had 14-16 days off for Tet.

Therefore, many parents, students and teachers reported that they had difficulty sending their children home to visit their hometowns when this year's Tet holiday is 7 days shorter than last year.

"We hope that students at all levels in Ho Chi Minh City will have 16 days off for Tet like last year" - many parents requested.
