United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is on an official visit to Nepal from October 29 to November 1 at the invitation of host country Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

According to DD News , this is Mr. Antonio Guterres' first visit to Nepal since taking office as UN Secretary-General on January 1, 2017. Previously, he visited the South Asian country in May 2007 as the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
The main agenda during the visit to Nepal by the head of the world's largest multilateral organization is climate change and ways to mitigate its impact on livelihoods, Nepal's peace process and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
According to the plan, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is expected to have meetings with President Ramchandra Paudel, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Speaker of the National Assembly Sher Bahadur Deuba and Foreign Minister NP Saud.
During the visit, the Secretary-General will visit the cities of Namche Bazar, Pokhara and Lumbini, Everest Base Camp and Annapurna.
Mr. Antonio Guterres will also address the joint session of the Nepalese Federal Parliament on the afternoon of October 31.
