During a meeting with top diplomats at the Russian Foreign Ministry in Moscow, Mr Putin presented different peace terms to those demanded by Ukraine.

“The conditions are very simple,” Mr. Putin said, listing the conditions as the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the entire territory of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions in eastern and southern Ukraine.
“As soon as they declare in Kiev that they are ready for such a decision and begin a real withdrawal of troops from these areas, and officially declare their abandonment of plans to join NATO – on our part, immediately… a ceasefire and the start of negotiations will be implemented,” Putin said.
The Russian President added: "I repeat, we will do this immediately. Of course, we will simultaneously ensure the safe withdrawal of the Ukrainian army...".
In addition, Russia demanded that Ukraine adopt neutral, non-aligned and non-nuclear status to resolve the conflict peacefully.
“Our basic position is as follows: neutral, non-aligned, non-nuclear status for Ukraine, along with its demilitarization and de-fascization. These parameters were broadly agreed upon at the Istanbul talks in 2022,” Putin said.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has said that peace can only be based on the complete withdrawal of Russian forces and the restoration of territorial integrity.
This weekend's Ukraine peace conference in Switzerland, attended by representatives of more than 90 countries and organizations, is expected to avoid territorial issues and instead focus on issues such as food security and nuclear safety in Ukraine.
